Frencheska & Geoff: The next big stars

MANILA, Philippines - The long search is over. And the next big stars are Frencheska Farr and Geoff Taylor after the grand vocal showdown in GMA 7’s Are You The Next Big Star?

Frencheska and Geoff competed with Camille Cortez and Zyrene Parsad (female category), and Alex Castro and Jay Perillo (male category) in three rounds.

The first round saw front-runner Frencheska singing I Finally Found Someone with Joey Generoso of Side A while Geoff showed the pop rock star in him in Open Arms with Jet Pangan.

For round two, Frencheska did a soulful R&B interpretation of Kelly’s Because of You with Kyla. Geoff, on the other hand, sang What About Love.

Of the six finalists, only Frencheska, Camille, Geoff and Jay advanced to the final round. They treated the audience to solo performances showing their vocal range and personality as performers.

The scores of judges Danny Tan, Mon Faustino, Annie Quintos, Vernie Varga and Pops Fernandez and text votes determined Frencheska and Geoff’s fate as winners of the talent search.

Frencheska and Geoff each won an exclusive management contract with GMA Artist Center, a recording deal with GMA Records, P1-M cash from SM Supermalls and a unit of Avida Towers condominium.   — JERRY DONATO
