Esperanza Spalding in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - The hip sound of jazz nouveau hits Manila as Soul Experiment Production with The Philjazz Society of the Philippines present Esperanza Spalding Live at Sofitel Philippine Plaza on Aug. 15, 7 p.m. Before that, spend the day with the jazz prodigy in a brass clinic that begins at 3 p.m. at 7 Pecados.
Opening for Esperanza (photo) is Yosha, a group composed of lead vocalist Yosha, bassist Karel Honasan, drummer Mike Alba and keyboardist Nikko Rivera. It has a unique jazz sound with a dash of Pinoy soul that is rapidly gaining popularity in the local jazz scene. Its original compositions are full of insightful lyrics with unforgettable arrangements.
