Criminology student is Hiyas ng Quezon City 2009
MANILA, Philippines - Bernadette Solero (center) was recently crowned Hiyas ng Quezon City of 2009 by the beauty pageant’s main sponsor, Quezon City Councilor Ariel Inton (extreme left) during the grand finals held at the Entertainment Center of SM North EDSA.
Representing Barangay Tatalon, Solero is a Criminology senior at the PCCR.
She got P20,000 as prize. Her runners-up were Sara Mae Reyes (second) and Jennielyn Natividad (first).
QC Mayor Sonny Belmonte, shown in lower photo with some of the candidates, was the event’s guest speaker. In his speech, he cited a line from a famous poem, ‘Beauty is its own excuse for being,’ and encouraged all beautiful young women in Quezon City to come forward and be recognized and get involved in helping build a community that is the best place in the country to live in.
