Dealing with the choices we make

-

MANILA, Philippines - On July 8, a new independent film that deals with the choices we make — and the consequences of those choices — will premiere as Grave Mistake, a new work by Nigerian director and longtime Philippine resident Fellyx Honeyfield hits the big screen.

Grave Mistake is the story of Pastor Eddy (Fellyx Honeyfield), an African missionary who comes to the Philippines because of his burden to save lost souls. In the course of his work, he meets Robert, a former Senator-turned-businessman who admires him so much that Robert decides to throw his support behind Pastor Eddy and his ministry. At a party one night, Eddy — whose wife Nancy (Lovely Rivero) is unable to bear a child — meets a woman named Epie (Kyla Lapus) and commits a “grave mistake” with her. What was meant to be a brief affair turns into an obsession when Epie becomes pregnant and threatens to tell the whole church. Because he does not want to hurt his wife, Pastor Eddy, perhaps realizing that he is in too deep, rents an apartment for Epie and keeps her as a mistress.

That “grave mistake” will prove to be his undoing as he later loses everything: The church, his ministry, his wife, his life and his mistress.

Honeyfield, who owns a company called Big Dreams Kreations, Inc., has been living in the Philippines for nearly a decade and has been in the business of making films for years. He has made about 20 movies in his native country, and also did a comedy in the Philippines starring Lovely. He has also written countless Christian novels, articles and scripts.

“I love telling stories. I love making movies. I don’t think there is something else I would love to do if not making movies,” says Honeyfield. “I joined the movie industry because I love telling stories through visuals. I have a passion to pass on a message through the movies I make.”
