Mister Dyords: Ang Galing ng Pilipino!
MANILA, Philippines – Why wait for Independence Day every June 12 to proudly wave the Filipino flag? All you need is a heart for all good things Filipino anytime, all the time.
Mister Dyords Javier believes in the inherent goodness and greatness of the Filipino and has launched his personal advocacy Ang Galing ng Pilipino 13 years ago to claim and proclaim what is positive in us as a people. With then First Lady Ming Ramos as his mentor behind the program, it was elevated to the World Tour and Country Caravan for FILCOMS (Filipino Communities) here and abroad where Dyords and his group, The AngFour not only performed to overflow crowds of kababayan but were anointed Ambassadors of Goodwill to Filipino migrants.
In 1996, then Honolulu Mayor Jeremy Harris handed over to the AngFour the declaration of Feb. 18, 1996 as Ang Galing Ng Pilipino Day by the City and County of Honolulu along with the city‘s gold seal in recognition of the slogan‘s indelible effect on the people.
As the banner title of our country‘s 1995 Centennial Celebration at Quirino Grandstand, the advocacy program has since given free admission to Dyords‘ shows in all top densely populated migrant and OFW cities in more than 30 countries.
Dyords‘ advocacy program has benefited OFW Communities through its networks with Community Councils in Doha, Ras LaFan (Qatar), Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al-Ain, Oman, Rome, London, Germany, Hong Kong, Kaoshiung, Chia-Yi, the West Coast USA, Honolulu and others.
The Ang Galing ng Pilipino even has a theme song of the same title with two recoded versions. Both original compositions with music by Ryan Cayabyab and lyrics by Dyords are in ballad and reggae forms, catchy and easy to sing along to. It also has an MTV showcasing only that which is positive in the Filipino.
It has been nurturing self-worth among OFWs around the globe and their families through annual presentations.
The slogan, Ang Galing ng Pilipino speaks of everyday heroism and qualities rooted in the true meaning of Independence Day. In celebrating the Filipino spirit, Dyords has been announcing persistently to the world that yes, it feels good to be a Filipino anywhere, anytime. And you don‘t need fireworks, eloquent speeches and a marching band to make people get your point.
Just look yourself in the mirror. It‘s all in each one of us. Ang galing ng Pilipino. Let‘s toast to that, anytime, anywhere.
