Viva Films/Bida Foundation rule 25th PMPC Star Awards

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Baler, produced by Viva Films and Bida Foundation, bagged 10 of the trophies at stake in the 25th Star Awards for Movies of the Philippines Movie Press Club (PMPC), the counterpart of the Golden Globe Awards given out annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press.

It was a night of surprises and high emotion.

Best Actor Jericho Rosales and Best Supporting Actor German “Kuya Germs” Moreno couldn’t contain themselves. They received their awards choked with emotion.

Kuya Germs, who tied with Emilio Garcia, said he never imagined he would win. His last nomination was during his Sampaguita days.

Jericho recalled that almost everybody in the Baler cast won an award in last year’s Metro Manila Filmfest. But he was left out.

Baler stood out as the most decorated movie at the awards rites held at the Henry Lee Irwin theater of Ateneo de Manila University last Thursday, May 27.

The awards night will be aired on June 21 on ABS-CBN’s Sunday’s Best.
