Wolfgang, The Dawn in Pulp

MANILA, Philippines - Pulp Magazine, the country’s official music publication, is on fire as it brings not one, but two of the country’s rock greats in its latest issue. Music fans of all ages and preference will again rejoice once they see both excellent covers oozing with the flavor and attitude only Pulp can bring.

Seminal heavy metal frontman Basti Artadi (upper photo) rejoins his band of brothers from the phenomenal ’90s heavy metal supergroup Wolfgang, the band that dominated the airwaves and the live stage during the musically-rich decade. Back with a renewed power and songs better than ever, Artadi, alongside his cohorts — guitarist Manuel Legarda, bassist Mon Legaspi and new drummer Francis Auino — recently conquered the stage once more with their now-legendary reunion/comeback performance and release of its latest disc Villains. Longtime and new fans will devour this feature with gusto.

On the flipside, another seminal force in OPM takes the honors, as The Dawn (above) showcase its music in a softer, more relaxed light. Through the band's latest disc The Later Half of Day, vocalist Jett Pangan, guitarist Francis Reyes, bassist Buddy Zabala and drummer JB Leonor reinvent its most classic gems into a soothing, more laidback salvo and prepare themselves for the next chapter in the band’s much-lauded history. Editor-In-Chief Joey Dizon converses with main men Pangan and Zabala about their latest offering and what else this legendary band has in store for us.

Meanwhile, no less than Pulp publisher Vernon Go revisits his heavy metal sensibilities and writes about one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the underground heavy metal scene. Intolerant — a cast of recognizable personalities in the local underground scenes (with former Skychurch members Russell dela Cruz and Joey Dizon, and Loss of Control founding members Mic Gallegos and Pepo Gohu) — has been up and at it for the past few years or so, opening for heavy metal giants Shadows Fall and Darkest Hour, and bringing their music anywhere and everywhere in and outside the country, specifically with their tour of duty to Hong Kong late last year.
