The boy-next-door is now a leading man

MANILA, Philippines - Aljur Abrenica is touted as one of the rising stars this year given his work in recent TV outings.

Aljur is busy taping for his half-engkanto role on GMA 7’s Luna Mystika, while doing hosting and singing on S.O.P.

One of his early wishes was to become a leading man in a teleserye. That was recently granted. He now headlines Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? opposite Kris Bernal.

Aljur embodies the stance of a dramatic-action star. He also exudes the silent-type toughie who knows when to throw a punch or shed a tear.

Aljur says, ”Gusto ko drama and at the same time action. Sa edad kong ito, I welcome acting for cute love stories, habang ipinapakita ko din ang tikas at galaw ng isang Pinoy action hero.” The tough side of him was shown on Zaido.

Aljur also starred on Dyesebel. There, he played a poor fellow who fell in love and got broken hearted. He was also part of Boys Nxt Door with fellow StarStruck alumni. 

How is Aljur as an actor?

“I read the script first,” he answers. “I study and memorize every line. I also consider my director’s inputs and suggestions. I practice a lot.”
