Cinemalaya short feature deadline extended

MANILA, Philippines - The deadline for submission of entries to the short feature category of the 2009 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition has been extended to Feb. 27, 5 p.m. All entries must be submitted to the Media Arts Division of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, 4th Floor, CCP Main Building, CCP Complex, Pasay City.

Ten finalists of the short feature category will be announced on May 8. The final entries will be shown at the 2009 Cinemalaya on July 17 to 26 at the CCP. The winner of the Best Short Film award will receive a P100,000 cash grant and the Cinemalaya Balanghai trophy on the Cinemalaya Awards night on July 26.

Now on its fifth year, the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition is a project of the Cinemalaya Foundation, CCP, Econolink Investments, Inc. and the Film Development Council of the Philippines. It is an all-digital film festival and competition that aims to discover, encourage and honor the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that boldy articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity.
