Kapamilya stars light up Dinagyang revelry

Two weekends ago, Iloilo City was filled with colorful banderitas and images of the Ati, elaborate Dinagyang masks and other souvenirs. Natives and guests alike witnessed the city’s transformation into a huge party place with non-stop merrymaking in honor of the Sto Niño. ABS-CBN Iloilo covered the various festivities and promoted the Kapamilya Karavan through its local shows TV PATROL ILOILO, Una Sa Balita (daily at 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.) anchored by (lawyer Jobert Peñaflorida and Jennifer Garcia ), SIKAT KA ILOILO hosted by lawyer Jobert Penaflorida and DT Joy Gener (weekdays at 6:30 to 7 p.m.) MAG TV NA, AMIGA! hosted by Sedfrey Cabaluna along with other talents from Bacolod (Sundays at 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.).

The Kapamilya in Iloilo responded to the various invitations and marched to the local Kapamilya shows which featured some of the network’s finest including Jericho Rosales, Vhong Navarro (for his album under Star Records) and Sam Concepcion, at SM City Event Center. Local talent Nel Rapiz of PBB Season 2 also hosted the Dinagyang Live Coverage along with Sedfrey Cabaluna, Rona Angela Maceachen and Steffi Roie Tere. The Kapamilya Karavan which was held at the Freedom Grandstand drew a crowd of more than 15,000. They joined contests which won for them a chance to be sung to by their favorite stars. The jaw-dropper Eva Fonda girl Cristine Reyes did a romantic song with a fan and then with ABS-CBN Iloilo’s MAG TV NA, AMIGA! host Sedfrey Cabaluna. When Armando Solis a.k.a. John Lloyd Cruz was introduced, the already ecstatic audience reacted with more excitement. He sang Ale and Ronnie Liang’s Ngiti to two lady contest winners. The night was capped by Kamikaze’s highly-charged numbers where lead singer Jay did his famous head spin to the delight of the Ilonggos.

According to ABS-CBN Iloilo’s station manager Charie Ginete-Ilon, “The Dinagyang celebration this year is even more special because of our recent tie-up with Bayan and Skycable which enables us to broadcast better audio and video quality. We want the best for our Kapamilya.”
