A Day-Off worth taking

Where will you find a good Samaritan who will take your overworked, oftentimes underpaid weary body for a relaxing treat while another lifesaver takes over your job?

Where else but Q-11’s Day-Off, hosted by Carmina Villarroel and Pekto. The show, which recently celebrated its third anniversary,  continues to give industrious Filipinos well-deserved treats — from relaxing massages, out-of-town trips and sumptuous dining experiences to shopping sprees and even make-overs.

“We are truly happy and thankful. Thank you so much to all our ka-tropang Day-Off for supporting us for the past three years,” Carmina says.

“Knowing that we have touched the lives of our viewers in our own little way, it makes us feel that we have served the real purpose of the show. And of course, it is our great pleasure that we are part of a very inspiring program,” says Pekto.

For their three part-third anniversary special, which started last Nov. 22, Ang Pinaka host Rovilson Fernandez takes over as host while the Day-Off duo go through the ultimate switch wherein they will experience some of the extreme challenges their co-host went through in the past.

Carmina will experience preparing a whole lechon, jump on speeding buses to sell candies, surf the waves and face the snapping jaws of crocodiles.

Pekto, on the other hand, will do permanent tattoos on people’s skin, serve lunch to wild animals,  become  a cosmetic surgery nurse and suck the muck out of septic tanks.

Serving as the ultimate objective for Carmina and Pekto are fantastic Day-Off packages for their chosen charitable institutions and beneficiaries after each successful challenge.

“Every time we complete a task, we get to grant the wishes of the charitable institutions. In our own little way, we are able to help those who are in need and it feels really good!” shares Carmina.

Aside from the growing number of people they’ve helped, their chemistry is one of the program’s biggest attractions. Their wacky antics make viewers laugh and stay hooked each week.

“Working with Pekto is fun and exciting. I look forward to his funny gimmicks and mga hirit. He’s talented and down to earth. I’m comfortable working with him. He knows me inside and out. Lagi niya akong pinapatawa at walang mintis,” Carmina says.

“We have a very pleasant and transparent working relationship,” adds Pekto.

Carmina and Pekto are happy that they’re able to put smiles on people’s faces through the show. As Day-Off enters its fourth year, they expect the show to last longer because of the number of people it could help.

“We expect to experience and learn more on how our hardworking workers do their job, how they get along in their day-to-day lives and give them an unforgettable Day-Off. We look forward to more years of being with our viewers who unselfishly support our show,” says Pekto.

“We promise to give more exciting challenges, fabulous Day-Off treats and to keep reminding Pinoys and Pinays that it’s important to rest and take a  day off,” shares Carmina.

With Carmina and Pekto around, more deserving Filipinos will experience the good life outside the workplace. Day-Off airs Saturdays at 8 p.m.
