More intriguing twists and turns on Lipgloss

The Philippine Star

Three months ago, local TV’s landscape was shaken by TV5’s Lipgloss, the youth drama revolving the intertwined lives of privileged teenagers of the upscale academic institution, Linden High, as they deal with issues about relationships, jealousy, sex and other juvenile matters.

Lipgloss has captured the attention of the rapidly increasing viewership base of the metro. It plunges into its second season with even more intriguing twists and turns and brand new explosive characters. Giving in to the demand of its audience, Lipgloss has also barged into TV5’s primetime with a new time slot of 6 p.m. Sundays.

The love-hate relationship of BFFs, Meg (Saab Magalona) and Abby (Maxine Eigenmann) continues even after being momentarily shaken by Abby’s tryst with Meg’s beau Edge (Kevin Lapena). But Meg’s travail takes an interesting turn when a new character, the voluptuous Sarah (Princess Ryan), Edge’s girl from the past, wedges herself between the newly-reconciled couple. In the meantime, Abby battles her own demons, holds on to her love, Jake (Rodjun Cruz) and her mother’s opportunistic schemes when she meets the “sponsor” who saved her family from poverty.

Another fresh addition to the cast is the character of Caloy, played by Neil Coleta who comes in as the enamored anak ng driver of overnight millionaire Julivee (Czarina Suzara). Julivee is infatuated with Caloy, who can hardly believe that the rich heiress would fall for a jologs like him. Totally devoid of guile, Caloy is thrust into a series of challenges to prove his love for Julivee, who in turn, tries to shield him from the cruel potshots of the snotty Lindenites.

Louise (Mary Grace Perido) is pining for Jiggo (Fred Payawan) who was banished abroad by his father. She finds comfort and inspiration in her teacher played by Christian Vasquez, with whom she shares many interests. The show’s bad boy Maui, played by Mikee Lee, seems to have been mellowed by his love for Ziggy (Cheska Ortega). But their love is forever challenged by the school’s nice guy, Kyle played by Sam Concepcion. Ziggy is torn between the man she should choose, and the man whose kiss she longs for. Miki Hahn as Steph, on the other hand, continues to add her own hellish spice to the angst-filled dramas with her own maneuverings.

Lorenzo Mara, Ricardo Cepeda and Rachel Lobangco are also on the show.
