Hair Asia's Salon Spectacular

Hair Asia holds Salon Spectacular 2008-Battle of the Champions on Nov. 25, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the World Trade Center.

“I just got back from Europe where I attended Salon International 2008 with our previous grand champion, Jackie Rivera,” says Evelyn Alvaran-Cruz, organizer of the Hair Asia Competitions. “It was an unforgettable experience for all of us, not just because Salon International was a fantastic event, but also because it coincided with the 80th birthday of Vidal Sassoon.”

Having met Vidal for the first time in 1993 when he presented her with his Vidal Sassoon: 50 Years Ahead book, Evelyn was ecstatic when she found herself seated just a few feet away from the living legend himself during the gala dinner in his honor at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

This year’s event theme takes cue from the flapper fashion of the 1920’s embodied by the short, sleek bob of the jazz era and immortalized by none other than Vidal Sassoon himself when he launched the Twiggy-look.

Awards will be given away to audiences and participants who are ready to be in their 1920’s flapper getups.

Salon Spectacular 2008 is all set to be an exciting event as contenders prepare concepts for their entries as early as now.

Participants will compete in Ladies’ Haircut and Colour, Gents’ Haircut and Colour, Progressive Evening Hairstyle and Makeup and the Salon Team Competition.

Inter-cutting with the grueling competitions are exciting hair shows and live on-stage demonstrations by top stylists.

Unilever will launch its Sunsilk Style haircare line and Lookbook during the affair. “They will give away product packs to all the participants in the Ladies Haircut and Colour Category,” shares Evelyn.

She adds, “We’re also honored to have Rustan’s Essenses as our partner again and it will feature some of its top-of-the-line products such as Dermalogica, Clarins, Murad, OPI Nail Polish, Acca Kappa Brushes from Italy and Phyto hair products from France.”

“There’s also Derma Pharma to introduce its newest product line in the market — the ISAC Minoxidil Hair Regrowth Treatment and the Pregroe 4-in-1 Haircare System. Matrix will also launch its latest hair color palettes for the season while the Bench Fix Salon’s Creative Team will present an exclusive hair show featuring the Revlon Professional Hair Color line.”
