Living off a suitcase

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda - The Philippine Star

I am always on the road and much of the time, I carry with me several pieces of luggage. Lately I have been on out of town trips — a break from my back-breaking taping skeds. I do not believe in traveling light, something that amazes Bong (Quintana), my partner who is a trained, professional, light traveler. I bring as many as five bags with me even just to Boracay. The number increases when I am taping. Sometimes I think of myself as a person who lives off a suitcase. Everything and anything that I need to use when shooting or taping is inside my bag. The five big bags that I carry with me are like mobile closets for my shoes, clothes, socks, etc. It may sound surprising but when you tape five episodes a day, five bags are not much.

There is nothing more disappointing than the experience of getting a cheap bag or luggage that promises convenience but will last for only a few trips. Through all the brutal handling it has to endure when traveling, quality is crucial to the survival of your luggage.

This is why buying a bag or luggage from the Werks Traveler 3.0 (WT3) collection of Victorinox Travel Gear, the leading brand of travel gear in the US, is a wise investment. With Victorinox, you not only get an eye-catching bag, you also get peace of mind as bonus because of its security features.

If a Victorinox luggage only had a surname, it could very well be durable. Only the best materials are used in creating a Victorinox luggage. All WT3 products use ballistic nylon to ensure that the contents of your bag are safe and protected from slashing, water and other harsh elements. Ballistic nylon is the same fabric used in manufacturing bulletproof vests — so just imagine how durable a Victorinox bag is.

But if you think that durability translates to a bag that only muscled men can carry, well think again. The WT3 collection of Victorinox is so light you could use it every time you plan to go for that much-needed vacation. WT3 is 30 percent lighter than your run-of-the-mill brand of bag and luggage.

The WT3 collection gets even lighter because it uses the revolutionary patented curved monopole that transfers the weight of the luggage from your arms to the wheels of the luggage. Because the trolley is curved, the main body of the luggage is moved away from your feet, allowing you to walk more freely with your luggage in tow.

The patented 360-degree swivel handle is also ergonomically designed to protect your arm and wrist from strain. With just a click, the trolley handle may be rotated and locked in place to keep your arm in its natural place, with the palm facing the body. The handle also gives you a comfortable grip with the use of a flexible gel-like material called Geluxe that conforms to the shape of the user.

The WT3 luggage also gives you additional 30 percent packing space. This is good news for frequent travelers who can’t help but make his luggage an extension of his closet. WT3 is not only light and spacious; it’s also intelligent. It uses self-healing zippers, which lets you realign the teeth by just going over the misaligned part of the zipper.

Attaching an additional bag is also easy with its Never-Lost Attach-A-Bag and the SimpleStrap Bag systems. Simply secure your additional bags to the strap hidden on the zippered front pocket of the luggage, and you’re ready to conquer the world.

If warranty is an issue, never fear. The WT3 collection of Victorinox is covered by the Carry with Confidence Warranty that assures you that your purchased product is free from manufacturing defects. Otherwise, Victorinox will repair it for free. Damages caused by mishandling from taxi to aircraft are also covered.

So choose wisely, and choose only a Victorinox bag and luggage the next time you travel. Victorinox Travel Gear would like you to experience a lighter way of traveling. Visit its branches at The Podium, all The Travel Club stores, and major department stores like SM, Rustan’s, The Landmark and Duty Free Philippines FiestaMall.

KC’s honest revelations

KC Concepcion made some honest revelations about mom Sharon, Papa Gabby Concepcion and dad Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan. KC is starring in her debut film For the First Time with Richard Gutierrez. Born a showbiz royalty, KC is inevitably at the center of things. But being the megastar’s daughter makes her even more palatable to the media. In a previous interview, she talked about her unconscious effort to get out of that wonderful and formidable shadow of the megastar. “There will always be one Sharon Cuneta. Kung ano man ang maibigay ko, sana ma-accept ng tao at magustuhan ng mga tao.” She also stressed her love for her Papa Gabby. “Papa ko siya. Kahit anong mangyari, kahit 13 years kaming hindi nagkita, Papa ko siya. I love him because he is my father.” As for her dad, Kiko, KC said, “He is a very good father. He spends time with his family, with the kids. Nakita ko rin kung ano yong meaning ng may naghahatid sundo.”

In the same interview, KC revealed that when she was 10 or 11 years old, she wanted to be part of Ang TV. But her mom put her foot down. “Hindi ako pinayagan. Iyak ako ng iyak. Sabi niya, when the time comes.”

KC uses as a pendant, the wedding ring of her parents Sharon and Gabby. “It is an important ring from the past. But it’s the reason why I am here. And it reminds me na kahit papaano, it’s meant that I am here, “explains KC.

Despite her success and celebrity, KC remains to be one of the most level-headed in showbiz. Sharon brought up her daughter well. And Francis, too.
