Charice Oprah guesting airing in the US May 12
The much-awaited episode of Oprah Winfrey’s eponymous show with Charice (no more Pempengco) as one of the special guests will finally air in the US on Monday, May 12.
This exclusive story was relayed to Funfare by Oprah’s publicist through celebrity immigration lawyer and STAR columnist Michael Gurfinkel and his wife Millie. It was Michael who facilitated the issuance of Charice and her mom Raquel’s US visa in a record one week’s time when they went to the US last month to tape for the show. Mother and daughter had lost their passports (with valid US visas) to a bukas-kotse gang in their native Laguna.
After her stirring rendition of the Whitney Houston song I Have Nothing, an emotional Charice told Oprah, ‘I’m always dreaming that someday I can be a part of your show. I can’t believe I’m here standing with you. This is my dream come true.’
Only Funfare was furnished by Oprah’s publicist a copy of Charice’s photo with Oprah. No other Philippine newspaper but The STAR got it.
Other equally talented kids featured on the same episode include: Seven-year-old ballroom dancers, an eight-year-old guitarist, a three-year-old drummer, a seven-year-old pianist, a 10-year-old who plays the accordion, the youngest film director in history, a two-and-a-half-year-old pint-size prodigy who can identify more than 100 countries on the map and a 14-year-old international best-selling author, plus a nine-year-old dancing phenomenon nicknamed ‘Happy Feet’ who teaches Oprah how to dance the Cha-Cha slide, and Abigail Breslin and Willow Smith (son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) who join the show via satellite to discuss their upcoming movie, An American Girl.
