Simply enchanting

It has been raining so much lately I’m beginning to wear jackets and long-sleeves since the weather just seems quite perfect for cuddling.  

Somehow, I felt homesick just when I realized that it was Thanksgiving Day in the US last Thursday.

I remember having to help out with my sister’s kids last year on our way to a family thanksgiving dinner.

All we did was watch cartoons and eat cereal! It was quite a treat to unwind with my niece and nephew.

 Their innocence brings such a different feel to the environment and their smiles are priceless. Children have a way of making life seem so simple. A lollipop can solve any kind of problem they encounter with their toys.

Haven’t you ever wished things were that simple? If we take a look around and really pay attention to every single detail in our environment, it would most probably drive us crazy.

Can you remember a time when you went to the movies and watched the same film twice?

I’m pretty sure not many people can relate to this, but I did that this past week.

I was so amused with Enchanted, I had to watch it twice in a row. I can’t remember when was the last time I watched cartoons in the theater, although Enchanted isn’t exactly 100  percent cartoon. Still, it’s very amusing.

The first time I saw it, it was unplanned. I just got bored after work and decided to drive down to the theater to see what was on. Then, I decided to catch the movie.

It might have been the popcorn that got me hooked. After all, you can’t just buy two tumblers of cheese and barbecue popcorn and just walk around the mall and eat it. It would look weird. So sometimes, I make it a good excuse to watch any movie there is just to have my popcorn.

By the way, you really should try mixing cheese and barbecue popcorn. I’m sure you’ll get hooked, too.  

Enchanted is a film about a soon-to-be princess cursed by evil Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) and sent to the real world.

If it was something like a nice quiet place she was sent to, it would have been much more different. But unfortunately she ended up in New York’s busy streets.

Giselle, played by Amy Adams, came from a happily-ever-after world. New York was almost like a nightmare for her. I say “almost” because a divorce lawyer (Patrick Dempsey), came to her rescue while the rest of the fairy tale characters in Andalasia, including her soon-to-be Prince Edward (James Marsden), also followed her to New York.

They were able to somehow merge the fairy tale love story with what’s really happening in our world today.

I would love to tell you the whole story, but I suggest you watch it  along with two tumblers of cheese and barbecue popcorn.

Enchanted may not be something we encounter in our daily lives. But I’m certain each one of us can relate to how the characters feel, especially Giselle.

Dempsey’s very charming aura made the film even more beautiful. I would be crazy to watch it again in the theater tonight. 

I might also purchase the movie’s DVD version  when it’s released. Try to catch it in theaters this week. Meantime, watch our episode on relationships on Sharon tonight along with Alessandra de Rossi, Asia Agcaoili and a couple of handsome men.

To top it all, here is a small part of something I wrote years ago right after I watched the movie Ever After.

“One day… Someday… I know I’ll find you…

I might just even already know you.

These words are only written for you coz’ deep

down inside, I know I love you..”

I know that’s a fairy tale thought. But hey, it’s nice to get in touch with the child inside us who used to believe in magic and happily ever after.
