Beyoncé: Quite an experience, indeed!
“Beauty is a summation of all parts where nothing needs to be added, taken away, or altered.” I can never forget this line in a recent movie I watched.
The first person who came to my mind while hearing this line was Beyoncé Knowles. I don’t idolize any celebrities. Neither am I obsessed with them, but I certainly do have deep appreciation for someone like Beyoncé.
As I’ve told my friends many times, there are only three celebrities I’d like to see in person: Angelina Jolie, Tyra Banks and Beyoncé.
It was such a pleasant surprise to get upclose and actually talk to Tyra for a minute or so when I watched her TV show live last year.
When I heard about Beyoncé’s concert (titled The Beyoncé Experience Live in Taguig) months back, I didn’t want to really believe it as much as the others did. It was more like a, “Yeah right, Beyoncé’s coming here!” type of feeling until a week ago and I began to feel a different kind of excitement for her arrival.

It took me three days and a “half-asleep” phone call to my manager to finally decide to buy a third row ticket for her concert.
After all, a third row ticket is a third row ticket and purchasing it would be like purchasing something from a Louis Vuitton store. But it was well worth the money.
I’ve been following Beyoncé’s career since her Destiny’s Child’s Writing On The Wall album days alongside Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett and LaTravia Roberson.
Their first lead single, Bills, Bills, Bills, came out in 1999. The next one that followed the charts was
The group fell apart after that while Beyoncé and Kelly stuck it through and got two more girls to fill in the spots.
Unfortunately, the quartet didn’t work out for so long when Farrah Franklin left.
Only Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle remained in the group that officially became a trio.
It was a wise decision to keep it a trio and just have Beyoncé as lead singer rather than have four girls in the group.
I call them “the power of three.” Beyoncé was always my favorite. I was a bit embarrassed that it seemed like it was only me who sang all her songs word per word throughout the concert.
I didn’t realize how much I was subconsciously singing nearly all of Beyoncé’s songs over the past years. I was surprised!
I didn’t feel too much like a nerd because I was with Diana Zubiri and a few other girls who weren’t too shy to get up and dance while Beyoncé sang her heart out. It was an amazing performance!

It felt as if I couldn’t blink my eyes throughout the song, wondering if she’d actually fall again! I still kept my eyes wide open every second Beyoncé was on that stage.
Given the chance, I wouldn’t think twice about buying a front row ticket again the next time Beyoncé and I are on the same side of the planet.
I’ve done some on-line research about Beyoncé and found out that she values family more than anything else.
I read an interview where she answered a question about what keeps her balanced.
“My family, definitely. There’s always one or two family members with me at all times. They’re right there (points to the back of the room). I don’t go anywhere without someone who loves me and who can tell me the truth. Family is so important to me.”
I never really thought of it that way. I’ve always been proud to say I love my family and that they keep me grounded.
At the end of the day, it really is our family who will tell us the harsh truths in life and love us unconditionally.
Beyoncé should be looked up to as a great example of a woman who knows how to humble herself through her family.
