Kadin (The Goat) invited to 60th Locarno Int’l Filmfest

Kadin (The Goat), written and directed by Adolf Alix Jr., has been officially invited to the 60th Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland, Aug. 1 to 11.

This was confirmed in a letter to me last Saturday, July 7, from  Cristiana Giaccardi, member of the Locarno Filmfest selection committee.

It reads:

Dear Ferdinand,

I have the pleasure to send you the invitation for Kadin in the Here and Elsewhere section of the 60th Locarno International Film Festival.

I’m so happy to give you the good news!

I hope that you will be able to accept our invitation. I’m at your disposal for any question you may have.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Programming Office

The Here and Elsewhere section is a new program of the Locarno Filmfest where the international premiere of Kadin which competed in the Third Cinemalaya Independent Film festival.

Shot in Batanes, Kadin features actors from the island, with the special participation of Angel Aquino and Simon Ibarra. Cast in the lead roles are Rico Mark Cardona and Monica Joy Camarillas, in search of a missing goat.

In 2005, Brillante Mendoza’s Masahista (The Masseur) won the Golden Leopard award in the Video Program of the Locarno Filmfest.

Alix’s first feature film was Donsol, shown in last year’s Cinemalaya. Kadin was produced by Cinemalaya, Bicycle Pictures and Ignite Media. It is represented in international film festivals and sales by Ignatius Films Canada. Kadin is the next film Ignatius will represent after Mendoza’s Foster Child, shown at the recent Cannes Filmfest.
