Vina settles ‘Borgy issue’ with a big slap!

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
It was bound to happen, considering the small circle they move in, sooner or later. It happened, well, sooner.

Sunday night, the paths of Vina Morales and Borgy Manotoc did cross and what a resounding encounter it was!

As you must have known by now, Vina has been, to borrow irate Sen. Miriam’s words, "foaming in the mouth" after Borgy named her among the three famous women he said he had gone to bed with (also including German model Lana Asanin and starlet Victoria London) on the Forbidden Questions portion of DJ Mo Twister’s program on Magic 89.9 (Monday through Thursday, 6 to 9 a.m.).

"Of course, I know who Borgy Manotoc is," Vina had told Funfare, "who doesn’t? But I’m not close to him. Hanggang ‘Hi!’ and ‘Hello!’ lang kami. No, I’ve never gone to bed with him!"

Anyway, their chance encounter happened at Greenbelt where Vina and her Chinese boyfriend went to watch a movie Happy Feet. While her boyfriend was parking the car, Vina went ahead to buy tickets, accompanied by her boyfriend’s bodyguard. Guess who Vina saw near the box office, engrossed in a video game at the nearby Timezone – yes, Borgy and his girlfriend Ornussa Cadness!

Not losing a minute, Vina marched toward Borgy and confronted him.

The exchange happened this way, more or less:

Vina: Why did you say that I went to bed with you?

Borgy: Oh, it was just a joke!

Vina: A joke – at my expense?

Borgy: I’m sorry. It was really just a joke which went out of proportion.

Vina: How dare you make a such a bad joke!

Borgy: I’m sorry. Please don’t do this in a public place!

Vina: What did you say? Didn’t you make that bad joke in a public venue, on radio?

As Borgy kept saying, "I’m sorry!", Vina delivered a big slap across his face, making his mouth bleed.

Being a gentleman (I believe he is), Borgy just kept saying, "I’m sorry!" while Ornussa and Vina’s boyfriend’s bodyguard stood by.

Then, Vina’s boyfriend arrived and asked what was the matter.

"I can handle this," Vina assured him.

Before they parted, Vina and Borgy let bygones be bygones by giving each other a hug.

Asked by Funfare yesterday why she did it, Vina said, "It had been more than a week since the controversy broke out; I’ve all over television, hurting, but Borgy never said a word. Not even a call or a text message to apologize. I was worried that people were starting to believe that I really went to bed with him."

Asked further how she felt after the incident, Vina said, "Relieved! I’d been hurting...I needed my name to be cleared. No, I have no regrets that I did it."

Would she still file a slander case against Borgy as planned?

"I don’t think so," said Vina who acted as "judge" and delivered a reverberating "verdict."

Now, who’s to blame for untoward incidents like this...for celebrities being pitted against one another? DJ Mo Twister and his "forbidden questions"? I don’t think so. As Mo said, "I only ask the questions. It’s my guests who give the answers."

Could it be the guest celebrities who are presumably desperate for attention and publicity? Or, perhaps, for the sake of, as Borgy told Vina, simply "joking?" What do you think?

Okay, so the case between Vina and Borgy is closed.

All’s well that ends well?

Oh, well...

Rachel also says,

‘I’m sorry!’

Let’s hope that Rachel Alejandro will not suffer Borgy’s fate once she crosses paths with, among other celebrities, Kris Aquino and Regine Velasquez whom Rachel named as "worst actress" and "most under-rated singer" also on Mo Twister’s program. Now in L.A. with Geneva Cruz (who was her co-guest also in the Forbidden Questions portion of Mo’s program), Rachel promptly sent Funfare a letter of apology before things started getting worse. Here it is, in full:

Dear Ricky,

I’m writing this letter as a sincere apology to the actors and singers I mentioned on the radio show of Mo Twister as well as the people who care about them who have been affected by things that I said.

Please believe that it was not my intention to hurt anyone but seeing that I have, I take full responsibility for my actions. It was a terrible mistake.

Why do some people like myself like to put ourselves in scary situations such as going bungee jumping or skydiving?

We know we could get hurt or it can even be fatal but we do it anyway because we like the rush when we do something daring or dangerous.

I guess it felt that way to me when I did that radio show. I dared myself to do something many would never dream of doing.

All of us have our own opinions but we keep them to ourselves. Thing is, unlike bungee jumping or skydiving where a mistake could only mean harm to ourselves, coming out on that radio show was also hurtful to others.

What I cannot stop beating myself about is why I allowed myself to be lured by this foolishness. I have never been a spiteful person.

I dislike fighting or being in conflict with anyone. My track record shows this.

You will never see or hear me in any word war with anyone on television.

So what possessed me to do this? It was stupidity and arrogance. There is no other explanation. The people I mentioned on the radio were never unkind to me so it was completely undeserved. In fact they have always been nice.

There is already so much fighting going on in the world. I should have never participated in anything so negative. If only I had the power to turn back the time, I would sleep through the alarm that Wednesday morning and never get up to do that show.

But since I cannot take it back, I can only pray that the people involved will eventually understand and forgive me.

Life is too short and precious to waste away on fighting.

Sincerely,

Rachel

Sympathy for Rita

Readers Trixie Dolor, John and Cheryl Navales and several others have been sending messages of sympathy to Rita Avila and husband, director Erick Reyes whose three-week-old baby died of congenital heart ailment. Here’s another one from reader Arlene David:

Hi Ricky,

I’m sorry to hear about what happened to Rita Avila’s child. Just want to extend my condolences and just want her to know that she is not alone. I also have lost a child and I would like to share to her this poem that I got from my Internet group. I also hope this will comfort her.
What makes a mother?
I thought of you and close my eyes and prayed to God today
I asked what makes a mother, and I know I heard Him say,
"a mother has a baby, this we know is true"
But God can you be a mother, when your baby’s not with you?
"Yes, you can," He replied, with confidence in His voice,
"I give many women babies, when they leave is not their choice.
Some I send for a lifetime, and others for a day.
And some I send to feel your womb, but there’s no need to stay"
I just don’t understand this God, I want my baby here.
He took a breath and cleared His throat, and then I saw a tear.
"I wish I could show you, what your child is doing today.
If you could see your child smile, with other children and say...
"we go on earth to learn our lessons, of love and life and fear.
My mummy loved me so much, I got to come straight here
I feel so lucky to have a mum, who had so much love for me.
I learned my lessons very quickly, my mummy set me free.
I miss my mummy oh so much, but I visit her each day.
When she goes to sleep, on her pillows where I lay.
I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek, and whisper in her ear.
"Mummy, don’t be sad today, I’m your baby and I’m here"
So you see dear sweet one, your children are okay.
Your babies are here in My home, and this is where they will stay.
They’ll wait for you with Me, until your lessons are through.
And on the day that you come home, they’ll be at the gates for you.
So now you see what makes a mother, it’s the feeling in your heart.
It’s the love you had so much of, right from the very start.
Though some on earth may not realize, until their time is done.
Remember all the love you have, and know that you are a special mum.

There you have it. Just thought of sharing it, might ease somehow the
unbearable pain. God bless, thanks

Arlene
