Rhian Ramos: A pleasant surprise

- Bot Glorioso -
Since she graced the small screen via a burger commercial, Rhian Ramos became a familiar sight on almost every household’s TV set as she plays Lea on GMA 7’s Captain Barbell.

"This is one thing which sometimes crossed my mind but I never expected it to happen," she says referring to her making a name in the limelight.

Indeed, after several months in showbiz, things are coming up roses for Rhian as she gets herself busy with TV, mall shows and product endorsements.

This time, Rhian will also be seen on the metro’s billboards and posters in select malls as the newest endorser of Bobson apparel and accessories.

Bobson tapped Rhian as endorser since the 17-year-old star embodies the brand’s thrust of keeping it real to its target market. As Bobson’s Ochie Rayala puts it, "We are always on the look out for fresh, bubbly, young talents and Rhian best represents Bobson as it mainly caters to teens and young adults."

Before Rhian, the brand has been endorsed by Nancy Castiglione, Karel Marquez and Maja Salvador. Aga Muhlach and John Lloyd Cruz are the male endorsers of the brand known for its stylish yet quality and affordable apparel.

Bobson also has a scents collection and fashion accessories from earrings to bracelets and other kikay pieces which the young are crazy about.

As a model, Rhian gets fashion tips from Georgina Wilson, Richard Gutierrez’s ladylove.

"Georgina and I have met and since she’s been into modeling for a long time, I would ask pieces of fashion advice for myself. She’s really talented," Rhian says, proving that she and Georgina do get along.

"There’s no conflict between us. Georgina knows it is only work between Richard and me," Rhian adds.

Aside from endorsements, Rhian is busy with her TV and movie projects. She is cast with the Roco twins and Camille Prats on another GMA Sunday afternoon show, Love Pow, to be aired soon. Her supposed first movie, Super Noypi, an entry to Metro Manila Film Festival, didn’t fit into her schedule and she was eventually dropped from the project. But fret not as Rhian’s first film project – whose title she doesn’t want to reveal yet – will be released in time for Valentine’s Day next year.

In spite of busy schedule, Rhian doesn’t take her studies for granted. Rhian cannot afford to attend classes regularly at La Salle but she finds the DECS (Department of Education, Culture and Sports) home schooling program a great way to finish her secondary schooling.

"If I pass the test from DECS, I can skip third year and move on to fourth year," she says.

Until now, Rhian is elated about what’s happening to her career and says, "Moms really know best. My mom will always encourage me to try things out and reminds me that God will not give what is not meant for me."
