The last thing stars want to happen to them

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
Bad breath is a serious issue among celebrities because we deal and work closely with people. Every time we open our mouths to talk, giggle, laugh or even eat, an eager audience watches and listens, anticipating the words we’ll say. And the last thing stars want to happen is offend an audience with stale breath.

In my kind of work, everybody is conscious of oral hygiene because bad breath can make or break you. In my case, aside from the routine of brushing, flossing and gargling with mouthwash, I regularly visit my favorite dentist, Dr. Mark Gan. I am in the process of having dental implants with the Dentist to the Stars. Dr. Gan knows everyone wants to have a really beautiful smile and beautiful teeth. We also want to have lasting fresh breath. I also believe most celebrities follow a similar routine like me – brushing, flossing, mouthwash and regular dental care. But what does it take for celebrities to have lasting fresh breath? Most of the stars I talked to attribute their lasting fresh breath to OraCare Mouthrinse, a no-sting, no-alcohol mouthrinse.

Take Phoemela Barranda for instance. The fabulous model and host has an affinity for fresh beginnings. She douses her mornings with a positive perspective for the day ahead and begins each morning with a refreshing rinse of OraCare Mouthrinse. Its mild and effective freshening action has made a remarkable difference in Phoemela’s work. She has fellow model Luke Jickain to thank for eagerly sharing OraCare Mouthrinse with her.

Pinky Amador echoes the celebrities’ sentiments on breath. She uses OraCare Mouthrinse and for a good reason that it doesn’t cause a stinging sensation. It’s a wise choice for an accomplished, international star like her who considers her voice an essential element in her craft. OraCare’s alcohol-free formulation makes it the best mouthrinse for singers like her. Amiable big belter Frenchie Dy agrees. She also trusts and uses OraCare Mouthrinse to keep her breath fresh minus the painful sting. She equates her refusal to use a mouthwash that stings with refraining from ingesting sugar-laden food, drinking alcohol and staying up late at night which can harm her voice.

Even showbiz secret shocker, columnist and host Jobert Sucaldito couldn’t keep a wonderful secret about himself which involves OraCare Mouthrinse. He uses the no-sting mouthrinse to help battle mouth odors which are big no-nos for hosts like him. Since he began using OraCare, he has steered clear of bad breath scandals. He doesn’t wish his name to make the buzz for the least desirable reason of having nasty breath.

A gracious actress who is a self-confessed food lover and refuses to be named, indulges in tasty but odorous food like kare-kare and bagoong, tuyo and tinapa. Odorous as these may be, she gorges on these foods and wouldn’t mind having more, since she is blessed with a body that doesn’t show her penchant for food. She gets to enjoy Filipino feasts minus bad breath because a quick rinse of OraCare Mouthrinse effectively gets rid of mouth odors.

A charming actor and other half of a hit love tandem who also requests to be unidentified, talks about the need for round-the-clock fresh breath. The feisty lad sings and does it so well it must have been one of the reasons why he has been linked to and paired with a number of young actresses. When tapings last until wee hours of the morning, he smokes a cigarette to help him stay focused, only to work on a kissing scene with his reel love interest right after. He recounts that if in the past, kissing scenes made him nervous, now he is more confident and has OraCare Mouthrinse to thank for it.
The Winner Takes Five
Kim Flores, five time gold-winner in this year’s World Championships for the Performing Arts (WCOPA), will show what it takes to be a champion in a show dedicated to the residents of Parañaque on Dec. 8 at SM Sucat parking lot.

Entitled Pamaskong Kasiyahang Handog ng Parañaque: Kim Flores The Winner Takes Five, the show pays tribute to the winning spirit of the Pinoy and Parañaqueños in particular. Kim lives in BF Homes Parañaque. It will showcase the singing prowess of the 16-year-old champion who surprised everyone by winning five gold medals and three gold plaques all of which are testaments to her musical brilliance. Topbilling the show with Kim are Prince of Pop Erik Santos and Big Champion Frenchie Dy. They will perform Christmas songs and pop songs.

"It’s good to be cast alongside champions. It’s an honor for me to sing for the people of Parañaque. I hope to do the best I can to entertain them," says Kim who will stage her biggest show thus far since winning the WCOPA Championships. Kim also stunned everyone when she performed in the musical Karim at Jasmine at CCP. "Some say it was an adult role I played. But they also said I sang beautifully," she adds.

At the Parañaque concert Kim Flores the Winner Takes Five, Kim will have an eclectic repertoire that includes Something at First Sight, Hihintayin na Lang Kita, Aria-Queen of the Night, Buttons, Stick with You and her winning WCOPA song Somewhere over the Rainbow, Because of You and I Believe. The concert is directed by Bong Quintana.

Kim is an in-demand performer. On Dec. 22, she will have a show at South Supermarket Lipa. She is also invited by the Rizal National Festival of Excellence as special guest in the finals night of the Youth for Rizal National Competition for High School and College. It will be held at GSIS Theater on Dec. 29. For inquiries on Kim, call Backroom at 435-1120 or e-mail [email protected]
