Roxanne Guinoo is hurting inside. Her breakup with first boyfriend Joross Gamboa three months ago is still so fresh the wound hasnt healed as yet.
"He was my first love. I miss him, no doubt about it. I even miss his angry moments," admits Roxanne.
But this doesnt mean shell pick up her cellphone to text or call him. In fact, thats the farthest thing from her mind. If shell do that, she wont ever move on. So she chooses not to communicate with him even for one second.
"I will, when Im good and ready," she promises.
After all, over a year of playing beautiful music with Joross is not easy to forget. He brought the shy, self-effacing Roxanne out of her shell. Now, she is more open to others, less afraid to speak up.
No wonder she has no regrets over the relationship, even if it ended on a sour note. No, not even if she and Joross are not on speaking terms three months after they split up.
Roxanne would rather throw herself completely to her work, the better to forget all about her first heartache.
Thankfully, she is not wanting in this department. Roxanne plays the girlfriend of John Prats left behind in ABS-CBNs latest teleserye Crazy For You. She is blissfully unaware of her boyfriends adventures while he was in Barcelona, and is in for the biggest surprise of her life when he comes back to the Philippines.
The chemistry between John and Roxanne may not be borne out of a real-life romance like her loveteam with Joross was. Its borne out of genuine friendship instead.
"John and I are barkada," relates Roxanne. "Thats why Im so at ease with him."
That way too, its easy to act lovey dovey with him in Crazy For You, touted as the Star Networks tribute to the sacrifices and struggles of the OFW.
It topbills Luis Manzano and Toni Gonzaga as a Filipino student and an OFW respectively, who cross paths and fall in love in Spain, hence the picturesque scenes shot in the land of the matadors and torreros.
Roxanne can only look on and restrain herself from remembering her first love whenever Luis and Toni shoot their romantic scenes together. But shes trying her best not to dwell on the past.
Shes not ready to fall in love again, not even if some people are teasing her with John. Hes just a friend, period, she insists. And theyre better off that way.
Besides, another romance is not among her plans anytime soon. Resuming her studies next school year is. Roxanne plans to take up a business managerial course at the Asian Institute of Management. It will only take two years, but shes already excited about going back to school and taking up where she left off.
No wonder Roxanne is looking none the worse despite the breakup. In fact, the denim jumper she was wearing at the presscon made her look even younger.
"I did that on purpose," Roxanne reveals. "I want to feel young."
She is. And from the looks of it, shes slowly coping with life after Joross. She may not get over him in a snap of a finger. But shes bent on getting there.
