August 21, 2006 | 12:00am
Danica Sotto ushers in the mid-year with three new delightful Ds: her newly-opened D Café, her latest Dyna CD and her dramatic foray via the GMA 7 soap, Pinakamamahal.
Topping that list is the recent opening of her own restaurant/café called D Café. Located at No. 26 Sgt. Esguerra Ave., South Triangle, Q.C., the family-owned enterprise is a dream come true for the budding cook and graduate of the Center for Culinary Arts. Looking modern and trendy with its sleek, stylish interiors, D Café specializes in Asian and Mediterranean cuisine.
"Im happy but nervous at the same time," Danica confesses. "This is a dream come true. Finally, I can spread my wings and see the fruits of my labor.
"Having traveled around the world, Ive sampled and taken notes of a lot of new appetizing treats that will appeal to most Filipino food lovers."
Enjoying her newfound role as culinary artist/entrepreneur, Danica makes sure that she oversees all aspects of the cafés operations from menu planning, food quality, service, interiors and manpower concerns.
The singer/songwriter has also released her latest album, Fragile Heart under the Dyna Music label. Verging on pop and alternative rock, the albums 11 tracks showcase her maturity and evolving musical vision. The cuts include Maghihintay Sa Yo, Dream Kita, Dyan Ka Na, Wag Naman Sana, Paulit-Ulit, Fallin, You Are Mine, Everytime, Alaala, Maghihintay Sa Yo (acoustic version) and Fragile Heart.
As part of the albums promo campaign, Danica will soon start her series of bar and mall tours.
On the showbiz front, Danica is also proud to be part of GMA 7s new drama series, Pinakamamahal, starring brother Oyo Boy Sotto, Pauleen Luna, Marian Rivera, AJ Eigenmann and Danilo Barrios.
"I play the role of Amy, the manic-depressive girl from the orphanage," she shares. "My character has strong emotions and mood swings. She is multi-dimensional and I find her challenging."
Her role is a fitting counterpoint to her light comedic role in Daddy Di Do Du, the long-running sitcom with Dad Vic. "I like both comedy and drama since Im kenkoy and ma-drama in real life," she says.
Unfazed by persistent rumors alluding to her pregnancy, Danica clarifies, "For the record, I am not pregnant."
These days, the slimmer, sexier and ever-blooming Danica is happy about her relationship with boyfriend Marc Pingris. "We are both family-oriented," she points out. "I love his family and he loves mine, too. We love life and always try to grow together. Its a God-centered relationship."
Danica is managed by ALV Talent Circuit.
