Who will win Toni’s heart?

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
Toni Gonzaga is one of the most eligible bachelorettes in showtown. This girl has spunk and sex appeal. Some call her the "IT" girl of showbiz. Luis Manzano has never been shy about his admiration on Toni. Vhong Navarro is obviously smitten. And now Piolo Pascual is seemingly enamored.

Toni has never had a boyfriend since birth. She’s had crushes and special friends but no serious boyfriend. And she’s not in a hurry. In an interview, she said that she’s prioritizing her work which means a three-picture contract with Star Cinema, hosting ETK, Pinoy Big Brother, Wazzup Wazzup and acting on My Juan and Only, all on ABS-CBN and Studio 23.

But Toni doesn’t only host well, she has excellent comedic timing. She’s smart and pretty and she’s got the X-factor. No wonder, all these boys are keeping an eye on her. When is she going to commit to someone? Not that this has become an industry issue but it’s actually fascinating as we watch Toni Gonzaga bloom into a woman in love.

Talking about Luis’ admiration for her she said, "It’s flattering. Sabi nga nila nakakahaba ng buhok ng isang babae na may lalaking tulad niya who admires your personality and character. He’s not also hard to love." "Knowing her is a blessing in itself," Luis shot back.

Vhong and Toni became good friends in Wazzup Wazzup. They starred in D Anothers, which became a smash hit. Vhong explained, "Toni and I are open about our problems. She has seen me cry and I have seen her cry, too." "The relationship is not just casual," Toni added. "It’s more like mutual understanding that I care for him and he cares for me."

While it was in the US Kapamilya Caravan where Piolo and Toni became good, good friends and they were together in Gary Valenciano’s Araneta Coliseum concert, sources say Vhong got jealous of Piolo because of this date. Toni talked about Piolo, "The guy is really sweet. He’s nice and caring. From day one up to now, he’s been very kind to me. He is a gentleman. It’s not hard to like him and to fall in love with him."

Who is the lucky young man who will eventually win Toni’s heart? We’re all waiting!
Stories of TOYM Awardees
Read about life’s greatest lessons as lived and learned by TOYM (Ten Outstanding Young Men) awardees in "Sketches." Sketches: Stories of Inspiration from TOYM Awardees is a rare collection of memories and personal accounts of hardships, crossroads and defining moments as experienced and written by some of the country’s outstanding young men awardees.

The TOYM boasts of a select roster of winners who have made incredible contributions in their fields of expertise and who today serve as role models for the next generation. Among them are luminaries in business, the arts, media, science and technology, education and public service. Winners include Tony awardee Lea Salonga, boxer Manny Pacquiao, National Hero Ninoy Aquino, National Artists Jose Joya and Napoleon Abueva, Sen. Juan Flavier, taipans Manny Pangilinan, Jaime Zobel de Ayala, and Lance Gokongwei, plus a host of other achievers whose youthful dynamism has brought them to extraordinary heights.

Over 59 TOYM winners write their own thoughts and experiences in essays that speak of who and what had given them the courage and inspiration to go beyond themselves to achieve the extraordinary.

Edited by TOYM Awardee Malou Mangahas, the book offers stories never been told before in such moving, personal manner.

Some of the winners who have contributed their stories are Joey Concepcion, Maria Ressa, former Sen. Loren Legarda, Cecilio Pedro, Pacita Abad, John Lu Koa, Jose Cuisia, Grace Nono, Eugene Torre and Jose Pardo.

Not all awardees have names that ring a bell, but their stories are nonetheless uplifting. Jojo Sinolinding, TOYM awardee for Rural Medicine, chronicles his experience as a rookie physician taking a stand against MILF rebels but continuing to care for wounded civilians caught in the middle of artillery fire in Maguindanao.

Sketches
was the idea of TOYM Foundation president Butch Jimenez who won the award in 1998 for multi-media achievement. "Though the victory may be sweet, it is the journey that is most fulfilling," says Butch. "So chronicling the journey taken by some of the country’s most distinguished individuals and the lessons they have learned is a treasure that will inspire for a lifetime. That’s why we came out with Sketches."
