Yasmien Kurdi sings In the Name of Love

No one can stop Yasmien Kurdi on her way to stardom. She is one of the busiest and most popular young stars these days. Her career blossoms not only as an actress but now as a certified recording artist as GMA Records releases her debut album aptly entitled In the Name Of Love. It has 10 original tracks that are undoubtedly outstanding. Big names in Philippine music gather for this album. Record producers, arrangers and composers such as Freddie Saturno, Kedy Sanchez, Jimmy Antiporda, Marvin Querido, Jun Tamayo, Alvin Nuñez and Ghost 13 get together to bring out the best in Yasmien.

The album highlights upbeat songs, Enjoy and Ride and Ikaw Pa Rin Sa Akin, which feature the rap artists Ghost 13. Yasmien’s interpretation of Rebel Magdagasang’s I Know and Kunwari Lang Ba as well as Jimmy Antiporda’s ballad In The Name Of Love are potential radio hits. Though she has been singing since she was three, Yasmien didn’t expect to become a recording artist. It is truly a dream come true for her. Even being an actress is also unexpected for her.

Her love for music is seen in the singing competitions she joined when she was younger. She enjoys jamming with co-StarStruck Final 4 and GMA Records co-artist Jennylyn Mercado. During their free time when they were still contestants in StarStruck, they were singing songs where their different vocal styles blended well.

Yasmien enjoyed the recording sessions of her album. She prepared well by having enough sleep before each session and she prayed a lot for divine guidance. She treasures all the funny bloopers and knowledge she gained while recording her album.

She lovingly offers her album to her mom and deceased grandfather. Of course her showbiz partner, Rainier Castillo, will not be out in her singing career. She dedicates the song Sa Akin Lang Sana, which talks about a girl’s hope of solely having the love of a guy, to her screen partner.

Even if she is busy in her showbiz engagements, Yasmien still finds time to rest and do her favorite activities like watching movies and bonding with her friends. She also attends workshops.

Martin Nievera, Lani Misalucha and Lea Salonga are her favorite music artists. Yasmien dreams of collaborating with them someday.
