So who is the father of Katherine’s baby?

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -
Young actor Coco Martin (he stars in the independent film Masahista, directed by Dante Mendoza) finally admitted he is the father of Katherine Luna’s child. All throughout Katherine’s pregnancy, Coco chose to stay quiet, avoiding the entertainment press and inadvertently causing a guessing game on TV as to who the father of Katherine’s child was.

Most of the names that cropped up denied the rumor. Only Coco Martin remained quiet. And the pregnant Katherine Luna, who created a stir with her sterling performance in Ang Babae sa Breakwater, maintained a steely silence as to the paternity of her child.

Tough times were ahead for the very pregnant Katherine Luna but she made sure her dignity was intact and never for a single moment did she doubt that she wanted the baby.

A couple of weeks ago, Katherine gave birth to a healthy baby. Coco, in an exclusive interview with me for The Buzz, admitted he is the father of the child. But the controversy rages on. Coco candidly revealed that yes, he has doubts and he has nagging questions about the paternity of Katherine’s child.

Sources say that according to Coco, they were never formally an item, while some say they were on for about six months. Coco, given the chance, would like a DNA test of the child to erase all doubts. But isn’t paternity really just a matter of faith?

For Katherine, Coco is a closed chapter in her life. She doesn’t understand why he came out to say he is the father of her baby but he has doubts.

For Katherine, this is not necessary anymore because her boyfriend JM has taken the responsibility of fatherhood. Katherine says she’s very hurt about Coco’s pronouncements. She is bent on raising her child the best way she could and she doesn’t need a doubting Coco in her life.

Meanwhile, Coco said that when he kept quiet, he thought the controversy would end. He was heavily attacked by the press who called him all sorts of names from "bakla" to "walang pangalan." There were even talks that he was charging P50,000 for an interview. All these accusations hurt his family. So he decided to break his silence and face the intrigues head on.

After saying that he has a lot of questions that need to be answered, I asked him again, "Coco, ikaw ba talaga ang ama ng anak ni Katherine Luna? The star of Masahista bowed his head for a few seconds like a confused masseur trying to avoid the demonic stare of a ruthless client, then slightly raised his face and looked at me straight in the eye. He said, "Opo, para matapos na ang lahat."

I doubt if this is the end of it all.
