Noah: The interior designer who sings
December 5, 2004 | 12:00am
Her soulful renditions have the same effect as a rainbow that calms after a storm. Noah, the lady behind that soothing voice, has just released an album that showcases the depth of emotions in every song she sings giving meaning to each word and breathing life to each beat. It also helps that the selection is made up of a good mix of revivals and originals that make you want to listen to the message and go where the melody takes you.
Two of the tracks that have been getting airtime are remakes of Agot Isidros Sa Isip Ko and a Vehnee Saturno composition, All The Love We Had. Also included are Gary Valencianos Hang On and Chris Walkers How Do You Heal a Broken Heart, a favorite from some years back thats great to hear again, this time from a womans interpretation.
Not to be overshadowed are the original tracks that are easy-on-the-ears. My Baby is a love song lullaby that makes you want to close your eyes and savor the moment. Oh My My My gives an altogether different feel with its sexy, teasing jazz approach. Everythings Clear is another piece of work that ably combines upbeat rhythm with poetry.
All the selections complement Noahs distinct soulfully relaxed singing style. Other features are If I Go Away, Just This Once, Liham and Umaga.
Noah may be a self-confessed woman of few words, but she definitely commands attention when she sings. Credit that to her voice quality and the fact that she sings with feelings. "The sharps and the flats are less important than the emotions you generate while singing," shares Noah. This, she learned under of jazz great Emcy Corteza-Faustino with whom she continues to train. She also attended the Yamaha School of Music and Ryan Cayabyabs School of Music.
An Interior Design degree holder, Noahs artistic inclination extends to painting and drawing. "My works are more on the abstract side." Culinary arts also interest her. "I love to cook. My specialty is Penne Arabiatta," reveals Noah who is thankful for having "fished out" an album.
"I grew up in the band scene so Ive seen all the sacrifices and hardships that all these talented, struggling musicians go through. Its not easy to come up wit your own album, not everyone gets a chance. And Im very grateful to be among the lucky few. I am hoping that later on, I can share my success with all the other artists and all my musician friends, that I can give them work so they too can have a chance to showcase their talents," says Noah.
For now, Noah wishes to share her music with you.
Noah is now available in CDs and cassettes at record bars and retail outlets courtesy of MCA Music Inc., a Universal Music Group Company.
