The Calling on Channel V

The Calling is Channel V’s The Chosen One for the month of June. The rock group from Los Angeles will introduce their much awaited second album titled Two and the single track, Our Lives with a series of appearances in the music channel. There will be interviews, live footage and music videos of their old and new releases including their big sellers Wherever You Will Go, Adrienne and others.

Catch them at Speakeasy at 8 p.m. tonight with replays on Sunday, June 13 at 5 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Monday, June 14 at 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. and Wednesday, June 16 at 4 p.m. The Calling will also be featured in 4Play on Wednesday, June 23 at 8 p.m. with repeats on Thursday, June 24 at 4 a.m., Friday, June 25 at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 26 at 9 a.m.; Sunday, June 27 at 2 a.m. and 8 a.m. and finally on Monday, June 28 at 11 p.m.

The Calling is made up of rock heartthrob Alex Band on vocals; songwriter and guitarist Aaron Kamin, Sean Woolstenhulme on guitar; Billy Mohler on bass; and Nate Woods on drums. Two is the group’s follow up to their sensational debut album Camino Palmero. That means that the new album is the dreaded sophomore release. Let’s keep watch to find out if it will be as great as Camino or if it will indeed be something for the group to dread.

From Channel V we go to MTV. The winners of the 2004 MTV Movie Awards have been announced. So time now to watch out for the local telecast of the event which was taped at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles last Saturday, June 5. Schedule is at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19. MTV will air the Pre-Show, the Main Show and the Post Show.

This means marathon viewing because you would not want to miss the coverage of the arrivals on the red carpet. Watch out for Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and his socialite girlfriend Paris Hilton, the actual awards, the opening number by the evening’s host. The lovely Lindsay Lohan is as sexy as can be and she is only 17. Eminem also performed with his new group D12, and then there is the partying after.

If you missed Saturday’s show, there are repeat telecasts scheduled on Sunday, June 20 at 10 p.m., Tuesday, June 22 at 9 a.m. and Friday, June 25 at 1:30 p.m.. MTV will also air the Main Show again on Thursday, July 1 at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, July 3 at 8 a.m.

And now the hits: The big news this week is that Avril Lavigne’s new album Under My Skin has snatched the number one position from Usher’s Confessions in the US charts. Avril’s CD must be really good as it is also number one in Europe.
