Another triumph for Johnny Manahan

Johnny Manahan again made his fellow-Filipinos proud when Ms. Earth 2003 aired around the globe last Nov. 28 on Star TV. Televised internationally for the second time with Manahan at the helm, the beauty tilt co-produced by ABS-CBN and Carousel Productions Inc., boasted of beauties from different parts of the world who competed for the Ms. Earth title. Winners will promote environmental concerns and will be actively involved in caring for and preserving Mother Earth.
The man behind hit shows like Two for the Road, Kaluskos Musmos, Chicks to Chicks, 2+2, Mana, Abangan Ang Susunod na Kabanata, Tonight With Dick and Carmi, Chicka, Chicka, Chicks, Palibhasa Lalake and now Bida si Mister, Bida si Misis, Klasmeyts; Coed Na!, Masayang Tanghali Bayan and ASAP Mania, Manahan is also the main man behind ABS-CBN special shows, the last one being the Kapamilya: ABS-CBN at 50.
His brilliance as a TV director has been cited twice at the Asian Television awards, first for the Ryan Cayabyab Musical Special in 1997 and the second for the Kulturang Handog sa Bayan in 1999. He is a recipient of several awards such as Best TV Director and Best Concert Director and was one of the 13 Best Artists of the Cultural Center of the Philippines. He was also presented an Honorable Award at the Paris Bienelle for Visual Arts in 1983.
