A ‘lovely’ twinbill

-
Sticking to its tradition of being the home of wholesome/family-oriented entertainment (and the only company which didn’t jump into the "bold-wagon"), Star Cinema continues to produce movies for every member of the family – and for lovers of all ages, proving that love, indeed, makes the world go round.

Review the company’s track record and you’ll see that most of its blockbusters are romantic films that emphasize family values and tradition. Its last heavy-drama offering, the much-awarded Dekada ’70, brought back the tried-and-tested team-up of Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon.

The roster is getting longer. There’s Minsan, Minahal Kita which revived the well-loved pair of Sharon Cuneta and Richard Gomez. Only Star Cinema could have turned into a box-office success on unlikely team-up like that of Aga Muhlach and Claudine Barreto in Kailangan Kita. Its recent release, Kung Ako na Lang Sana, is another example, with Aga cast opposite Sharon Cuneta in a heart-warming story about friends falling in love.

Of course, there’s the team-up of Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin in Hey, Babe, and Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa, Judy Ann Santos and Piolo Pascual whose starrers have caught the fancy of both young and old alike.

And now comes two new loveteams in Star Cinema’s "feeling young" twinbill, My First Romance, which may be described as a "Valentine in October" flick.

In the first episode entitled One Love, directed by John-D Lazatin from a screenplay by Ted Boberel and Tessa de Guzman, Heart Evangelista and John Prats color the big screen with a titillating romance set on campus. Heart comes from an upper-class family and she falls for John who hails from the CD class, proving that love knows no bounds nor boundaries.

In the second episode, entitled Two Hearts, directed by Don Cuaresma from a screenplay by Mel del Rosario, the small-screen generated loveteam of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo will touch moviegoers’ hearts with a story about a boy (John Lloyd) whose life is saved and prolonged by the heart of his girlfriend’s (Bea) late boyfriend (Dominic Ochoa) who dies in an accident. Thus, the movie’s title.

Also cast in One Love are Susan Africa, Cherie Gil, Ate Glow, and introducing Pauleen Luna.

Co-starring in Two Hearts are Miko Palanca, Kathleen Hermosa, Chanda Romero, Joel Torre, Mandy Ochoa, Chat Silayan and Dominic Ochoa.
