Kabayan Noli moving to GMA 7?

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
Curtain-raisers:

• So who says that Rosanna Roces has been slapped with a one-year suspension by the KBP (Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas) from co-hosting GMA’s Startalk? After a brief absence (during which she reportedly took a vacation in Europe), Rosanna resurfaced on Startalk last Saturday. O, yan ba ang suspended?

• Could it be true that Arnold Clavio is jumping ober da bakod from GMA to ABS-CBN? Is that why he was spotted in a serious talk with ABS-CBN News & Public Affairs head Dong Puno?

• Now, can you guess who "Mr. M" is in Korina Sanchez’s lovelife? Could he be 1) an actor, 2) a businessman, 3)a lawyer, or 4) a politician? None of the above, sorry. "Mr. M" is very visible and very audible these days, informing the public about the country’s economy. Oops! That’s all the clue Funfare can give you so far. Besides, the guy’s beng eligible and yes, wealthy/prominent.

Remember Funfare’s "curtain-raiser" item a few issues ago about a "power struggle" in ABS-CBN’s News & Public Affairs Department?

Funfare’s
roving Bohol Avenue DPA has just filed the latest development in that well-kept "secret" which, unfortunately, can’t be kept secret for long. Well, you see, you can’t cover a fire with a piece of paper, can you?

Involved in that "power struggle" are NPA (I mean, News and Public Affairs, of course!) head Dong Puno and Arlene de Castro, his executive vice-president. The rift started when ABS-CBN hired Dong to head the NPA, much to the disappointment of Arlene, who felt that she was bypassed even if she thought that she was highly-qualified for that position.

Anyway, caught in the quiet "crossfire" are Arlene’s husband, Sen. Noli "Kabayan" de Castro (who continues to host the Saturday evening show Magandang Gabi, Bayan) and the couple’s daughter, newscaster Catherine de Castro.

The latest word, according to the Funfare DPA, is that Arlene, who has been on leave for weeks now, might opt to retire with a P20-million retirement fee. The bigger news is that, in sympathy with his wife, Kabayan Noli is reportedly moving to rival station GMA 7. Things are still being ironed out, so I ask you to stand by, stay tuned, for further developments in this power play.

Okay, Bohol Avenue DPA, you may sign off now.
