Dayanara expecting another boy

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
Curtain-raisers:

• There’s this "semi"-sexy actress who’s such an expert in "scheduling" that she’s enjoying the best of both worlds. She’s based abroad with her husband(?) and her children from her failed marriage and her affair with an action-drama actor (who’s married to and has a child with a sexy, beautiful actress). When the "semi"-sexy actress comes home for a vacation without her husband(?), she trysts with her "local" lover – a sex-drama actor who’s the ex-live-in partner of the non-showbiz sister of a macho actor now being accused of battery by his former sexy-actress live-in partner. It’s getting somewhat confusing, isn’t it? Well, when you play a dangerous game like having a husband(?) and a "spare" it can be absolutely confusing! Some people can be lucky, albeit "confusing," huh?

• Somebody should tell – pronto! – this still popular actress to, well, "shape up" before it’s too late and especially now that her career is getting a second wind. Could it be true that she hasn’t really kicked her bad "habit" and she hasn’t weaned herself from the casino? Recently, she showed up at a TV station in a cab, embarrassingly un-madeup, to borrow money (only P5,000!?!) from the actor-husband of a respected actress-director. Did the actress come straight from the casino, visibly "high," and lost all her money on the slot machine? What a pity!

• Could it be true that the actor who hied off to the States nursing a broken heart is now staying with the family of another actor once romantically linked to him by rumors? He used to stay with friends who got fed up when he wouldn’t even contribute (not even a few dollars?) to the household expenses.

Several weeks ago, Funfare put out the "scoop" that Dayanara Torres, who remarried her husband, superstar Marc Anthony, late last year after a six-month separation, was infanticipating. The latest word is that Dayanara is expecting another boy in September. She and Marc have a son, Cristian, who’s more than two years old.

"Actually," revealed the five months pregnant Dayanara in an interview with a Spanish-language magazine (thanks to reader "Genica of Quezon City" for sending Funfare a clipping of the interview), "I don’t want to know the gender of my baby... I want it to come as s surprise... but I have a feeling it’s going to be a boy. Let it be what God wants. Marc and I want the baby to be born healthy. That’s what we are praying for."

If you didn’t know, Dayanara got a big scare a few months after Cristian was born when he was suspected to be autistic. Luckily, the boy grew up to be normal.

Dayanara also mentioned that she’s infanticipating (naglilihi) on strawberry cake, glazed donuts and passion fruit juice.

The former (l993) Miss Universe (who donated her crown to a museum in Toa Alta, presumably a municipality in her native Puerto Rico) seemed to have learned to take her husband’s "womanizing" in stride. "Marc is really funny; he’s a sensitive and romantic family man. Last Valentine’s Day, he rented a private plane from Miami to New York where we are based and he himself served me supper. Imagine a supper for two up in the sky! And then we watched Phantom of the Opera on Broadway."

Also, Dayanara denied reports that Marc has stopped her from pursuing her singing career.

"I did it on my own," she said. "I feel more comfortable being wife and mother. I love to cook for Marc whose favorite foods are steak with onions, chops with rice and stewed beans."
A ‘must’ show for true-blue music-lovers
Here’s good news for true-blue lovers of authentic romantic songs just like yours truly:

On Aug. 2, Saturday (mark that date, please!), at random now, Hajji Alejandro, Nonoy Zuñiga, Rico J. Puno, Rey Valera and Marco Sison will get together for a concert at the Araneta Coliseum, entitled The Greatest Hits... Just Once, produced by Viva Concerts.

I’m looking forward to the concert because, 1) the five artists will surely give us great entertainment; besides being good singers, they are also good comedians; 2) it’s been a long time since artists of their calibre have starred together in one show; and 3) I’m sick and tired of loud noise that brazenly pass for "music" and I want an honest-to-goodness enchanting evening of, that’s it, pure and unadulterated musical entertainment.

Once again, I want to hear old, familiar songs, such as Hajji’s Panakip Butas, Nonoy’s Never Ever Say Goodbye and Love Without Time, Rico’s Macho Guwapito and Kapalaran, Rey’s Maging Sino Ka Man and Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko, and Marco’s My Love Will See You Through and Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang.

I’m sure the five guys will clown around especially in the segment called "divos" where they will sing songs popularized by such "divas" as Sharon Cuneta, Regine Velasqauez, Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Lani Misalucha.

As Hajji puts it, "It will be... isang gabi para maalaala mo kung nasaan ka, kung paano at kung ano ka dati." In short, a trip down Memoray Lane, a sweet hello to yesterday.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime musical experience – true to its title, Just Once – so don’t miss it.

Concert director is Ding Bolanos, musical director is Mel Villena and choreographer is Maribeth Bichara.

(Note: Ticket prices are Pl,200, Pl,000, P750, P600, P250 and Pl00. For inquiries, call Viva Concerts at 687-1125.)
