Victor, Angelika now going steady

Here are some wake-upper news items to help you shake off that morning-after Christmas hangover.

First, the sad news: Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa who, in the first place, have never admitted that they were sweethearts (but only "good friends"), broke up before Christmas, a few days after they (with the other Hunks) came home from shows in the US.

So what caused the big split (temporary, let’s hope)?

"Ugali," said the Funfare DPA. "They just don’t jibe ugali-wise."

Would it mean "New Year, new dear" for either Jericho or Kristine – or both?

More sad news: Rica Peralejo and Bernard Palanca have also called it quits due to a third party (a sexy starlet separated from her basketball-player-husband). The "third party" got so smitten with Bernard that she moved to a unit two floors below in the building where Bernard is staying – you know, the nearer to you, my dear! And more convenient, too. Knock three times on the floor if you want me, or so the song goes.

The starlet also caused the near break-up of "J" and "B" hadn’t "B" (the wife) fought hard for her husband. When last heard from, Bernard was desperately trying to win back Rica – to no avail. That’s what he gets for being unfaithful.

And now, the good news: Victor Neri and Angelika dela Cruz, co-stars in the GMA soap Habang May Buhay, are now going steady.

"Your ‘wish’ for Angelika to have a boyfriend (Funfare, Dec. 24) came a bit late," said the other Funfare DPA. "Angelika wasn’t alone and loveless last Christmas and, hopefully, in the days to come. Mayroon na siyang Victor."

It doesn’t bother Angelika, according to the DPA, that Victor is an unwed father. Well, you know, love may not necessarily be blind but it can be understanding, considerate and "all-inclusive." Mamahalin kita maging sino (o ano) ka man, or so another song goes.

The last actress romantically linked to Victor was Angelu de Leon (after Sharmaine Arnaiz) but both Victor and Angelu denied they ever had any romance, saying that they were close because they then happened to have the same manager (Veanna Fores). Angelika was linked to a few actors, among them Mico Sotto (son of Ali Sotto), after she and Jericho Rosales split up.

Well, let’s hope that Angelika and Victor (but whatever happened to his love son’s mom?) will have a happy (fruitful?) romance.

This confirmation of Victor and Angelika’s romance should put to rest the rumor that Alma Moreno (Victor’s leading lady in Kapalit Alma’s post-Joey Marquez starrer shown a few months ago) has been keeping an eye on Victor, that’s why she frequents Rockstar (a bar-cafe partly owned by Victor). Maybe Alma just loves the joint, period, and not really the part-owner.

A truly ‘family’ Christmas

There’s a shortage of Christmas cards this holiday season, or didn’t you notice? Unlike in the past, Funfare got barely two dozen cards but I was able to pick out the best four, all of them featuring the families of the senders. Which simply proves that Christmas is, indeed, for the family (legitimate ones, I mean).

Come to think of it, it’s the quality (of the cards) that should count and not the quantity.

Funfare purposely didn’t "rank" the four "winners" unlike in years past, namely Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres and child; Sharon Cuneta and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan and daughters; Pagsanjan, Laguna Mayor E.R. Ejercito and Maita with children; and Sen. Serge Osmena and Bettina with children.
