October 31, 2000 | 12:00am
J18 and NBK bring back Dutch DJ Ferry Corsten, aka System F, and one half of Gouryella, for a wicked Halloween themed party on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Parking Area of Sambo’s and K8 (the former ABGs), Laureano Compound, 2216 Pasong Tamo, Makati (near Don Bosco). Corsten will be supported by NBK Residents Jed Dario and Manolet Dario as well as Erwin Edralin (K8) and Carlo Aquino (Sambo’s).
Last April, in the first dance party to be held at the Ford Makati showroom, Corsten unleashed his famous club anthems like Out of the Blue, Gouryella and Walhalla to a crowd of 1,500 that partied till morning. Since the Manila gig, he has travelled all over the globe and acquired residencies in the famous Ibiza club Eden this summer, and at Code (Birmingham’s newest club).
On his second stint in Manila, the Dutch trance master has a slew of tracks that are waiting to explode in Manila. Many of his newest singles such as Mode Confusion and his remix of U2’s New Year’s Day are in the playing list of top DJs John Digweed (who had a smashing gig in Manila last month with NBK) and Paul Oakenfold.
One of Trance’s new wave of superstars, Corsten is both producer and DJ, mixing The Ministry of Sound dance compilation series entitled Trance Nation, one of the best dance compilations in the UK. Trance Nation series 4 was released early October and debuted at no. 1 in the UK charts.
Besides winning Producer of the Year honors at the Ericsson Muzik Awards in London in October 1999, he was named Best Remix for Barber’s Adagio for Strings last May at the Dancestar Awards. In his native Netherlands, he also received the prestigious Silver Harp award. His tour here coincides with the launch of his first album under the name of System F, Out of the Blue, inspired by the dance hit of the same title. Corsten will sign CDs and posters at Tower Records Makati on Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.
To get a P50 discount at the gate, come in costume or present flyers available at J18 stores in the malls, Tower Records Makati and Alabang, and at select establishments and bars in Metro Manila. Clubbers are encouraged to come in their most imaginative costumes for a chance to win prizes like J18 products, Polaroid I-Zone Cameras and Joycams. Early birds are served of Absolut Vodka-Red Bull while supply lasts.
DJ Ferry Corsten/System F live in Manila is also supported by Absolut Vodka, Smart, Radius, Tower Records, Lucky Strike, Universal Records, NU 107, Localvibe.com.
Part of the proceeds of this and all other NBK events will be donated to World Wildlife Fund-Philippines.
