To me, my X-Men: Sadie Sink, Kit Connor lead mutant MCU feature

MANILA, Philippines — Marvel Studios dropped a huge surprise on comic book fans by announcing major cast members of a planned "X-Men" film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Studio president Kevin Feige led the announcement as Marvel's cherry on top to close this year's D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California.

Director Jake Schreier, whose last film was "Thunderbolts*" in the MCU, was joined by "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink who debuted her Jean Grey in the recent blockbuster "Spider-Man: Brand New Day."

Sink then introduced the following as her companions in the cast, some of them confirmations of rumors swirling the past couple of weeks:

Kit Connor as Scott Summers or Cyclops
Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
Inde Navarette as Rogue
Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe or Storm
Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier or Professor X

"Star Wars" star Adam Driver surprised fans everyone further via a video to reveal he'd be playing Nathaniel Milbury, a name attributed to X-Men villain Mister Sinister.

Feige teased that more actors would join the cast, likely in the aftermath of two upcoming "Avengers" movies which will feature original "X-Men" franchise actors like Patrick Stewart, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, Kelsey Grammer and Ian McKellen.

Marvel also unveiled new trailers for "VisionQuest" and "Avengers: Doomsday" as well a humorous video of Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds asking to be in the latter movie as Wolverine and Deadpool.

All these come on the heels of San Diego Comic-Con last month, where Marvel revealed Ryan Gosling would be Ghost Rider and David Jonsson is the next Black Panther.

The MCU "X-Men" movie is slated for a May 2028 release, nearly a decade since the last full-on mutant outings of "Dark Phoenix" and "The New Mutants."

Elsewhere in D23, Disney announced a third "Zootopia" and "Frozen" films, "Kingdom Hearts" series, a "Bluey" movie, a three-part series "Oswald," and "Hexed" cast additions to join Filipino-American actress Hailee Steinfeld.

Pixar news includes "Coco 2" with a teenage Miguel facing against Benjamin Bratt's Ernesto de la Cruz, "The Incredibles 3" focusing on the three Parr children, a new film "Ghost Market," and a first look at the upcoming "Gatto."

"Star Wars" fans were treated to a trailer for the second season of "Ahsoka" and footage from "Star Wars: Starfighter" also starring Gosling.

There were also new looks of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" Season 3, "Ice Age: Boiling Point," the "Lilo & Stitch" and "Romy & Michele" sequels, and the live-action "Tangled."
