MANILA, Philippines — Irish singer Niall Horan commended K-pop boy bands today, especially BTS, for their elevating performance levels.

The former One Direction member appeared on the "Therapuss" podcast show hosted by Jake Shane where the latter asked the artist's thoughts on K-pop groups.

"[None of [One Direction's] bit was super choreographed or right or anything like that," Horan reflected. "So they're very different. Each generation seems like it's got boy bands, but they're all kind of different to each other."

He pointed out his group never wore white outfits and had routines, something that pioneer acts like the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC did.

"We worked around the stage. The K-pop thing is I guess more structured — but they look like athletes," Horan also said.

Horan specifically named BTS and how unbelievable they are to watch when the latter group is dancing, calling it "pretty intense" and "amazing."

One Direction was composed of Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik (though he departed the group a year before their indefinite hiatus) and the late Liam Payne.

BTS is in the middle of their sprawling "Arirang" world tour, which is currently slated to end in the Philippines this March.
