WATCH: Funny ‘kilig’ moments with Alempoy
MANILA, Philippines — Though comedian Empoy Marquez has been cast as “James Ribs” in new ABS-CBN primetime series “Since I Found You,” he sees himself more as his co-star in the series, Piolo Pascual.
“Nakikita ko sarili ko kay Piolo Pascual,” said Empoy, and his line has been declared as the “quote of the day” during the recent press conference for his new series with love team partner Alessandra de Rossi.
Since the success of their 2017 romantic comedy “Kita Kita” co-produced by Piolo, Empoy and Alessandra have been collectively known as “Alempoy.”
"Kinda offensive 'no, pero we need work," Alessandra said when asked how it is to work with Empoy again.
When asked if they have fallen for each other since "Kita Kita," both of them shouted in unison: "Yuck!"
When Empoy was asked if Alessandra is his type, Empoy said: "Yuck!"
When asked why he said Alessandra is not his type, Empoy quipped: "Bakit, eh ikaw, type mo?," pointing at Alessandra.
In “Since I Found You,” which began airing on Monday, Empoy plays James, the company driver and the life of the party working for Nathan (Piolo), an accomplished businessman and the boss of the country’s leading construction company.
Alessandra portrays Janice, Nathan’s secretary, who works hard for her family and her son. Janice is also secretly in love with Nathan.
The series also stars Arci Muñoz as Nathan’s intern, Dani; and JC De Vera as Ginno, Nathan’s career-driven assistant, which guides Arci and makes sure she gets her work done.
“Since I Found You” is directed by “hugot” director Antoinette Jadaone, who is behind the success of television series “On the Wings of Love” (2015) and “Til I Met You” (2016). This is also Piolo’s big comeback in the TV drama scene after a four-year hiatus. His last TV show was “Hawak Kamay” in 2014.
