Adopt-A-Mangrove

MANILA, Philippines - San Ramon Power Inc. and the Western Mindanao Power Corp. (WMPC) – Zamboanga City-based subsidiaries of the Alsons Power Group – recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region IX and the Zamboanga City local government for the Adopt-A-Mangrove project, which calls for thousands of mangrove seedlings to be planted in the next three years. The project kicked off at Sitio Pamingitan in Bolong as part of Alsons Power’s simultaneous celebration of Ocean Month in different areas of Mindanao, which showcased the group’s ongoing programs to preserve and enhance the sea thru activities such as artificial reef dome deployment, mangrove tree planting, and fish seeding. Present at the MOU signing were (from left), SRPI community relations consultant Engr. Ruben Conti, SRPI project development manager Archimedes B. Donato, WMPC plant manager Jose Marie T. Torrejon, provincial environment and natural resources office (PENRO) chairman Tito L. Gadon, Bolong barangay chairman Antonio Evangelista, Sangali barangay chairman Daud T. Bakil, and Zamboanga city councilor Charlie Mariano.
