Rico anchors BBC World News in London

MANILA, Philippines - Rico Hizon has reached a new milestone in his international broadcasting career. 

Rico is the first-ever Filipino to anchor a global news program from the BBC’s brand new global headquarters in Central London. 

The state-of-the-art facility dubbed the world’s newsroom is located in the popular Oxford Circus area. 

Rico is the frontman of the Newsday program on BBC World News from Singapore together with co-anchor Babita Sharma in London. They’re on a news anchor swap arrangement for a few weeks. In Singapore, the Filipino broadcast journalist also anchors the daily financial news program Asia Business Report. 

Rico who has been with the BBC for more than 10 years now is a multi-awarded journalist having won the Rotary Club of Manila Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award and the prestigious The Outstanding Young Men or TOYM award for International Journalism.
