How girlfriend Liza helped Aiza Seguerra become a better actress

MANILA, Philippines – When she won the Best Supporting Actress award during the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival on Friday, December 27 for her role in “My Little Bossings,” Aiza Seguerra dedicated her win to her girlfriend, actress Liza Diño.

“Love, thank you. Because of you I learned many things about acting. I dedicate this award to you, love you,” the singer-actress said in her acceptance speech during the MMFF Awards Night.

When asked by members of the press recently if the acting award for “My Little Bossings” is the highlight of her 2013, Aiza said: “No, Meeting Liza again is the highlight of my year.”

In an interview with an entertainment news site earlier this year, Liza, a stage and independent film actress, revealed that she and Aiza touched base via Twitter, more than a decade after first meeting each other.

Now, the “Be Careful With My Heart” star said Liza was her acting critic when doing “My Little Bossings.”

“I’ve always been an actress since I was young. But I think of it as an energy. Ihalintulad natin sa isang power—that energy has always been there, but Liza gave me that direction where to take it, how to harness it and make it more effective,” Aiza explained.

She added, “Never akong nag-workshop, never akong nag-anything. Siya ang critic ko.”

“Fini-fine tune niya ako. So ako, fini-fine tune ko rin sarili ko.”

Aiza revealed she is in a relationship with Liza during her “Power of Two” concert with Charice Pempengco last September.

Of course, aside from her acting award, Aiza is also happy “My Little Bossings” is doing well in the box-office as it proves the movie’s star Vic Sotto can create a hit movie outside his more well-known Enteng Kabisote francise.

“Yung pagiging box-office hit ng ‘My Little Bossings,’ it’s a very personal thing for me. Para sa akin, alam ko it’s a stretch kay Bossing na umalis sa Enteng Kabisote na yun e, it’s a sure win na e. And still he did this,” she said.

“Kasi, more than anything, gusto naming makita ng mga tao na he’s really a good actor. Hindi lang siya basta comedy, but he has the heart talaga,” Aiza added.

“Sobrang masaya kami na nakita niya na all it takes is a good story, good actors, good direction and it will still be a hit.”
