Allegedly high on drugs “Jealous” man burns gf’s house

CEBU, Philippines - A man who was said to be high on drugs burned down the house of his live-in partner allegedly because of jealousy, last Friday in Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City.

Andres Rensulat, 40, a resident of P. Nellas Street, was arrested after his live-in-partner, Estrellita Solon, 30, a resident of sitio Awayan, sought for police assistance.

Solon alleged that Rensulat set her house on fire at 3 a.m. She said some P20,000 worth of property was damaged.

According to Police Officer 1 Miguel Bernabe of Carcar City Police Station, Solon alleged that Rensulat doubted her for having an affair with another man and eventually got mad, prompting him to set her house on fire.

Based on the behavior of the suspect, Solon believed that he was under the influence of illegal drugs, said Bernabe.

“Sa among tan-aw aning suspect, sabog pa ni siya,” said Bernabe.

The suspect did not try to elude arrest from responding police.

Solon and Rensulat are allegedly live-in-partners but Rensulat sometimes go to his house in P. Nellas Street.

Bernabe said the victim filed a case against the suspect, who is currently detained at Carcar City police detention cell.  (FREEMAN)
