MANILA, Philippines — Isa lamang sa Barangay Ginebra at Blackwater ang magtatapos ang sinasak­yang winning streak sa Group B ng PBA Season 49 Go­vernors’ Cup.

Magsasalpukan ang Gin Kings at Bossing nga­yong alas-7:30 ng gabi sa kanilang mu­ling pagkikita sa Ninoy Aquino Sta­dium sa Mala­te, Manila.

Sa unang laro sa alas-5 ng hapon ay maghaha­rap ang Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at Phoenix Fuel Masters.

Tangan ng Rain or Shine ang solong liderato sa bitbit na 4-1 record ka­su­nod ang Ginebra (3-2), San Miguel (3-2), NLEX (3-3), Blackwater (3-3) at Phoenix (0-5).

Sumasakay ang Gin Kings sa isang two-game winning run, habang tatlong sunod na panalo ang inilista ng Bossing matapos ang 0-3 panimula sa tor­neo.

Sa una nilang pag­kikita noong Agosto 30 ay tinalo ng Blackwater ang Ginebra, 95-88, tampok ang PBA debut ni import George King.

“We’re fortunate to have won the last three games but we feel like our backs are still against the wall and we need to keep pu­shing,” wika ni Bossing coach Jeff Cariaso na su­nod na tinalo ang Road Warriors, 119-91, at Fuel Mas­ters, 123-111.

Hangad din ng Gin Kings ang ikaapat na pa­nalo matapos gibain ang Road Warriors, 119-91, at Fuel Masters, 110-101, sa ka­nilang huling dalawang laban.

Bukod kay King, muli ring aasahan ng Blackwater sina rookie Sedrick Barefield, Troy Rosario, Christian David, RK Ilagan at Justin Chua.

Itatapat ng Ginebra sina resident import Justin Brownlee, Scottie Thompson, Japeth Aguilar, Stephen Holt at rookie RJ Abarrientos.

Samantala, pilit namang babangon ang Rain or Shine mula sa 112-113 ka­biguan sa San Miguel na nagmantsa sa dating malinis nilang kartada.

“Kailangan namin ng six wins, so kapag nanalo kami we feel one foot inside the door na kami sa quarterfinals,” sabi ni coach Yeng Guiao sa pagsagupa nila sa Phoenix.

Tinalo ng Elasto Painters ang Fuel Masters, 116-99, sa first round.

“They’ve been struggling, yes. But I think their import is also just ma­king the adjustments,” wika ni Guiao kay Phoenix import Brandone Francis. “By Tuesday he must be better adjusted to the team and our style of play so we will have a harder time putting together a win against Phoenix this time.”
