Coenzyme Q10 for more effective weight loss

-

MANILA, Philippines - Overweight or obesity may not only be a problem of overeating or lack of exercise although these are the primary factors. If one is already religiously eating healthy and exercising regularly, yet remains overweight, the problem may actually be also caused by the body’s deficiency in a very important nutrient, Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10).

In an article entitled “The Role of Coenzyme Q10 in Clinical Medicine” which was published in the Alternative Medicine Review, Dr. Alan Gaby, past president of the American Holistic Medical Association, wrote that since CoQ10 is an essential co-factor for energy production, CoQ10 deficiency may be a contributing factor in some cases of obesity.

Furthermore, as people get older, their body’s metabolic rate slows down, thus causing them to store more fat without turning it into energy.

In a study of 27 obese patients, 14 were found to be CoQ10-deficient. In this study, five CoQ10-deficient individuals from the same group of participants, together with four persons with a normal level of CoQ10, were given a daily dose of 100 mg of CoQ10 along with a 650 kcal diet.

After eight to nine weeks, the results revealed that the CoQ10-deficient group lost a mean weight of 13.5 kg as opposed to the normal CoQ10 level group, which lost a mean weight of 5.8 kg.

Women, compared to men, have more weight loss issues, which affect them both psychologically and physically. In today’s vain society, a slightly overweight woman is often considered unattractive or “a person who has neither discipline nor self-respect.” This paradigm often results in a diminishing self-esteem.

This is why the emotional impact of being unable to lose weight is especially hard on women starting in their forties. The combination of weight gain and aging, with health issues finishing off the combo is often a demoralizing prospect.

However, there is a solution to this predicament. The CoQ10 deficiency may be dealt with by taking CoQ10 supplements, which compensate for the lack of this coenzyme in the body.

With a healthy lifestyle and the CoQ10 supplement, a person will not have to go through the pain of weight loss regimens that show no results.

Trianon CoQ10, which comes in 30-mg capsules, has been available in the country for more than 10 years now and has been prescribed by doctors for various indications. Charles Cultura, Trianon national sales and marketing manager, said, “By taking one to two capsules daily, Trianon CoQ10 will not only help you lose weight, but will also boost your immune system.”

Trianon CoQ10 has also been recommended for patients with heart disease. It is particularly recommended for patients taking statins, a cholesterol-lowering drug which may also impair the body’s production of CoQ10 resulting in its deficiency.

An over-the-counter product, Trianon CoQ10 is available in Mercury Drug and other leading drugstores nationwide.
