Delaying the progression of osteoarthritis
MANILA, Philippines - Osteoarthritis or OA, considered a degenerative disease, is one of the leading causes of disability in the elderly.
In the Philippines, the Department of Health reported that several million Filipinos have osteoarthritis (based on a prevalence survey of 16 percent), and this usually affects people over 45 years old.
However, though a cure for OA is yet to be discovered, there are different ways to delay its progression.
Osteoarthritis breaks down cartilage found in joints. Healthy cartilage is necessary to prevent bones from rubbing together. As cartilage deteriorates, patients experience pain, swelling and reduced motion in their joints.
Without healthy cartilage working as a shock absorber of movement, the damage may become permanent. It commonly affects the hands, knees, hips, and spine.
OsteoAid is one of the locally available food supplements, the components of which have been shown to effectively slow down the progression of osteoarthritis.
One of the most potent in its class of therapies for osteoarthritis, OsteoAid contains 366 mg of glucosamine, 400 mg of chondroitin, and 100 mg of methysulfonylmethane.
According to scientific literature, the combination of these three substances support joint health by relieving pain, rehabilitating damaged cartilage, improving mobility, stimulating the production of proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans, and synovial fluid, and ultimately slowing down the deterioration of cartilage in the joints.
Aging, weight gain, and joint injuries are factors that can lead to osteoarthritis, and there is currently no cure for osteoarthritis.
There are only therapies that improve joint function, such as exercise, weight control, and rest, as well as drugs and surgery. Unfortunately, the most commonly used conventional nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have been reported to negatively affect the long-term progression of the disease.
Components in OsteoAid including glucosamine do the opposite. Studies have proven that long-term oral administration of glucosamine can delay the natural progression of osteoarthritis.
Scientific organizations and regulatory agencies in America have acknowledged that glucosamine has met the conditions needed to be distinguished as a symptom- and structure-modifying osteoarthritis drug.
Chondroitin and methysulfonylmethane further enhance the beneficial effects of glucosamine on the joints.
OsteoAid is manufactured by one of the leading sources of food supplements in the United States, and locally distributed by Trianon International, Inc. It is available in Mercury and other leading drugstores in the Philippines.
Charles Cultura, Trianon national sales and marketing manager, said, “By taking one or two capsules of OsteoAid a day, people can enjoy the assurance of joint rehabilitation in addition to joint pain relief.”
