TRC sets technology forum

-

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s leading technology commercialization organization is promoting “techno-preneurship” to make the national economy self-reliant.

This is the purpose of the Technology Resource Center (TRC) in staging the  Technology Partnering Forum 2010 on Feb. 22-24 at the Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC) in Pasay City to mark its 33rd anniversary.

“The Technology Partnering Forum will show how technology-based business ideas have the potential to form the basis for a high-growth commercial enterprise or can be easily licensed to solve a specific market problem,” said TRC director general Dennis Cunanan.

“Thus, the event will showcase Filipino-originated technologies from educational and research institutions as well as private innovation proponents. It shall feature a Technology Showcase of simple and popular technologies as well as strategic technologies in water, alternative technology and biotechnology, among others,” Cunanan added.

The forum will include a business matching service to assist exhibitors and visitors, the Idea to Liquidity Technology Symposium, and the student-oriented Innovation Opportunity Camp to be highlighted by the TekBiz Fora and the TeknoBiz Idea Challenge competition, Cunanan said.

Expected to attend the TechForum are seed and venture funds, economic developers, angel or seed investors, venture capitalists, academic institutions and the engineering and science education communities, as well as public and private non-profit research institutes.

Tech commercialization experts and corporate licensing executives will be around to lend their expertise to overseas Filipino workers and other investing communities from around the country and abroad.

Supplies vendors and other industrial and service firms, aside from technology proponents and generators, will be among the exhibitors.

“Deal-focused and diverse, the TechForum will be the launching pad of emerging technologies by Filipinos and for Filipinos,” Cunanan said.

Interested TechSymposium or TeknoBiz Fora participants and TechShowcase exhibitors may contact the TRC’s Technology Utilization and Commercialization Services Group at 727-6205 local 411 or 721-0094.
