ACEN powers Uratex plants

MANILA, Philippines — Ayala-led ACEN Corp. has further expanded its growing list of renewable energy-powered facilities, this time partnering with foam and mattress maker Uratex.
ACEN, through its retail electricity arm ACEN RES, will energize the four facilities – three in Metro Manila and one in Isabela – of Uratex with clean power.
The financial details were not disclosed.
“We look up to the Ayala Group and appreciate how our smaller steps toward sustainability are supported by (its) larger vision,” Uratex Group of Companies managing director Peachy Cheng-Medina said.
The foam maker’s facilities in Magallanes, Shaw Boulevard, Marcos Highway and Isabela will join seven other green energy-powered Uratex locations across Luzon and Cebu.
Miguel de Jesus, ACEN’s managing director and COO for Philippine operations, said this tie-up would not only expand the renewables footprint of Uratex but also support the country’s energy transition push.
To celebrate this partnership, ACEN RES awarded Uratex the “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge, recognizing the latter’s dedication to sustainability.
“We are committed to nurturing strong partnerships within the Ayala Group, and we see immense potential to create synergies across our diverse businesses, including banking, communications, green mobility and land development,” he said.
“By working together, we can unlock new avenues for innovation and sustainable growth,” he added.
The Uratex Group is said to be the country’s largest mattress manufacturer, offering a full range of automotive and commercial polyurethane foam products nationwide.
ACEN, meanwhile, is the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group that has a global generation portfolio of about seven gigawatts spanning operational, under-construction and committed projects.
The company aims to scale up its renewables capacity to 20 GW by 2030 through its robust project pipeline across the Philippines, Australia, Vietnam, India and Laos.
