Okada Manila switches on first EV charging station
MANILA, Philippines — Okada Manila, the five-star integrated resort in Parañaque, is introducing the first electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Entertainment City as part of its commitment to sustainable innovation.
By encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles, Okada Manila is actively supporting the transition to clean energy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
“At Okada Manila, sustainability is a core part of our responsibility as a corporate citizen. This EV charging station reflects our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and our role in shaping a greener future for tourism and hospitality in the Philippines,” Okada Manila vice president of hotel operations Rob Scott said.
The charging station, located at the lower ground floor parking of the resort, features two Type 2 charging sockets with a power output of 22 kilowatt hours.
Okada Manila said that on average, an EV can be charged from 50 percent to 100 percent in approximately two hours.
The charging station is currently exclusively available through Okada Manila’s Valet service to ensure a hassle-free experience as valet personnel facilitate the entire process.
By offering the amenity, Okada Manila said that it takes a proactive role in shaping the future of sustainable travel.
As electric vehicle adoption continues to rise, it said that the resort remains steadfast in its dedication to environmental responsibility, ensuring that guests can enjoy a premium experience while making eco-conscious choices.
“This initiative underscores the resort’s commitment to eco-friendly hospitality while catering to the growing number of EV users in the country,” Okada Manila said.
Okada Manila has become the first integrated resort in the Philippines to receive the Forbes Travel Guide Verified Responsible Hospitality badge.
The responsible hospitality badge sets a global benchmark for environmentally conscious luxury.
The third-party verification assures guests and travel advisors that the world’s finest hotels are committed to responsible and sustainable operations.
