Tarlac town bags top water district award
MANILA, Philippines — The Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) hailed Ramos Water District in Tarlac province as the most outstanding water district in the country during the recently-concluded LWUA-WD Forum and Awards 2018 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, LWUA chief Jesi Lapus announced today.
Ramos WD bested over 520 water districts in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, being awarded also as the outstanding water district for its size-of-coverage category (Category C). Located in Poblacion Center of the province covering more or less about 10,000 households, Ramos WD proved that size does not matter when it comes to delivering the best water service in the countryside.
In addition, Lapus said, four other water districts were also awarded as outstanding water providers in the country based on their categories, namely: Butuan City (Category A), Pili in Camarines Sur and Carcar City in Cebu (Category B), and Claveria town in Cagayan province (Category D).
Outstanding water districts based on the four categories were also farmed out based on three main locations in the country as follows: Baliwag, Norzagaray, Ramos and Claveria (Luzon); Pili and Carcar, Victorias City and Bacacay (Bicol and Visayas); and Butuan City, Dipolog City, Kabacan and Surallah (Mindanao).
Lapus added that special recognition was also given out like the Outstanding Regional Training Center Award for Baguio Water District for its exemplary performance in advancing the human resource development goals of LWUA, there by ensuring a steady stream of trained and skilled workforce for the water districts.
Moreover, Baliwag, Dumaguete City and Isabela City water districts were chosen as pioneers in septage (water treatment plant) for their exemplary development and maintenance of septage treatment infrastructure, thereby ensuring clean water and sanitation for the communities.
