MANILA, Philippines —  Apart from food, cosmetics, K-drama and K-pop, there are more to explore about Korea, particularly its winter season.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila Office, in cooperation with Gyeonggi Tourism Organization and Gangwon Provincial Government, showcased the best of Korea’s Winter season last Sept. 14 to 16.

All That Winter: Korea Travel Fair 2018 rolled out as KTO industry partners exclusively joined a travel mart at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. To cap the day, participants, as well as Korean leaders, gathered for the Korea Winter night gala.

KTO Manila office director Joon Kil Jo cited the good relationship between Koreans and Filipinos as the reason why they enjoy visiting and exploring each other’s country.

Data from Bureau of Immigration revealed that Koreans are the top tourists in the country with a total of 1.4 million tourist arrivals from January to November of 2017. On the other hand, Filipinos are also among the top 10 visitors in Korea, according to Joon.

The second day continued with a grand travel fair at the Glorietta Activity Center. Gyeonggi and Gangwon delegations set up booths to further introduce Korean culture and the attractions and experiences during the winter season.

Several event zones were also built, allowing visitors to try and experience fun activities such as ice hockey, 360-degree virtual reality ski jump and the winter photo zone.

Bringing the excitement up a notch was live musical and dance performances by all-male K-pop group The King, Gongwon Province’s honorary ambassador Ryan Bang, and honorary ambassador for Korea Tourism Sue Ramirez.
