Philippines ranks sixth in video game time
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines placed sixth globally in terms of time spent on gaming, according to online gaming platform Mobile Premier League (MPL).
A study from MPL showed the Philippines ranked sixth for the average daily time spent playing video games.
In particular, gamers in the Philippines spend an average of one hour and 15 minutes daily on video games.
Topping the list was Egypt with the average daily time spent playing video games at one hour and 43 minutes.
This was followed by Saudi Arabia with the average daily time spent at one hour and 36 minutes or 1:36, Thailand (1:29), Mexico (1:24) and Vietnam (1:18).
Ranking seventh to 10th are the United States (1:15), United Arab Emirates (1:14), India (1:09) and Brazil (1:07).
The study, which covered 49 countries, ranked nations based on their gaming habits.
MPL said access to internet, the young population and rising disposable income are driving higher gaming times in top-ranked countries.
As video games have become common like watching TV, MPL said there are now 3.2 billion gamers worldwide.
MPL said growth in emerging markets presents challenges and opportunities for game developers and platforms globally.
“As the industry evolves, understanding these regional differences will be vital for success in the global gaming market,” it said.
MPL, a gaming platform in the US, offers games across categories like card games and casual games.
